HD Radio/Receiver Question

I have an after market HD radio in my van. It is an old one. Basically, the radio was HD compatible and XM compatible. I had to buy separate module/box for HD and another for XM. It works well. Here is my question:

I love to listen to 98.5 HD-2. I can only assign a button to the main 98.5 channel. So, I push the button, get the main analog and then wait for it to change to HD-1. THEN I can switch it to HD-2. How do the new car radios handle the button assignments? Can a button be assigned to an HD-2 or HD-3 station?

Hi Barry, most new HD car radios have presets that allow you to set the preset for your hd sub channels. For example, I too listen to WSB FM HD2. I just press the preset wait a moment and then WSB HD2 appears. I am using an Alpine HD car unit but I think most of the after market car radios allow you to do this.

Thanks Dan6053. My radio was put in during the early 2000's, so it was a very early HD radio. At the time they were not selling integrated HD radios. You had to buy and HD compatible radio and then add an extra box that will talk to the radio. Now, I want a new one but will probably wait until I get a new mini-van.
