HD Radio Sale

Buy.com is having a sale on JVC HD car radios. http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=202699026&adid=17653&dcaid=17653

They are a noted "close-out" retailer. I'm not sure if this radio is capable of receiving HD-2 channels. I suspect it can't and that is why they are closing them out. HD or not, it otherwise looks like a good radio at a very good price.

Will the BA Receptor be next?

I know one of the JVC radios doesn't receive the subchannels, so this may indeed be it.

I am not aware of any JVC HD radios that do not support HD sub-channels. The model in question is the KD-HDR1 and it most definitely supports sub-channels. I have this unit and it is a very good receiver for both analong and HD digital.

Is there anyone who knows what the AM IF bandwidth of this JVC is? Is it encumbered with usual crummy ceramic filters?
Can the 10khz whistle be heard, has it incorporated a 10 khz notch filter, or does it brickwall the audio upper end in analog?
Does the AM have a tuned-RF stage, or will strong signals walk through the mixer and intermodulate like most new radios?
The last really good car radios produced I ever heard were Blaupunkts from the 1980's.
PLL radios like this are radio "emulators" in that there is no real tuning.
The price is certainly right, but I'm not likely to concede the previous issues.
Whatever happened to real spec sheets, anyway?
When a manufacturer offers so little info, I am suspicious they are hiding poor performance by selling the sizzle.

Yes, but it has a blue display on the front panel, and some little buttons that perform multiple functions! Just figuring them out while driving should provide hours of enjoyment.... :p
