HD Radio

I have enjoyed several hours of Austin HD radio listening I really enjoy it. I dont really like am HD, but I hardly listen to AM anyways except for sports and news/weather. I hope HD radio will come out good in the long run. I hope San antonio will get more HD multicasting channels soon.

I haven't heard much AM HD other than a few seconds of KMIC here in Houston, but I didn't like what I heard....sounds like an mp3 encoded at a really low bitrate with a cheap encoder. The other night I was getting a few Austin FMs to come in in HD and noticed they are multicasting, but never could get any of the SA's to lock on to digital mode. Do any of the SA stations currently multicast?

Only ones right at this moment is:

KAJA - HD-2 Texas country
KQXT - HD-2 Smooth Jazz
KXXM - HD-2 Mix

The ones that are still not in HD are
FM
KROM, KTFM, KCOR, KLEY, KLTO, KJXK, KRIO, KZEP, KXTN

Hmm..i'll have to see if I can catch them next time the weather is acting up. It's rare for me to get anything other than Houston.

KISS sounds great in HD, as opposed to how it sounded 10 years ago. Magic is horrible and distorted in HD. Does anyone notice the distortion in your right speaker when you listen to KONO in analog?

I havnt listened to kono in years I got my antenna towards Austin now, more HD choices over there than Houston or San antonio.

I also hope that when the HD-2 oldies channel launches on KKMJ, they will play some 50's in the mix. They still have HD U and not KKMJ on the call sign on the HD signal.
