HD Reception Problems in NYC Today

This morning I could not get 101.1, 102.7, and 103.5 in HD. Likewise their HD2 stations did not come in at all. The HD for CD101.9 did come in, although that station does not have an HD2 station. I only live 8 miles from the Empire State Building. Does anyone else in the NYC area experience this problem? In the thread on WPLJ, R.F Burns says there could be some transmitter issues at the Empire State Building.

Later in the day 103.5 HD2 came in fine but WCBS-FM-HD1 was broacasting in analog. WFUV-HD1 was just fine but they broadcast from a tower in the Bronx, not from the ESB.

WCBS is not on the same antenna as WKTU. IIRC WCBS is combined with WQHT & WPLJ on the single bay panel below the 2 bay "master" which has everyone else on it.

When I was in East Rutherford for the Pats/Giants game three weeks ago, I noticed that the analog FMs on ESB were "noisy" except WPLJ, WQHT, and WCBS. (Almost like bad multipath).

Time to fire up 4 Times Square =)

CBS FM doesn't have a backup on Condenast. Their back up is on 1515 Broadway and they may have been using their backup which would expain any HD outage.

Yes, I didn't think about that one. I knew they had the 1515 Broadway Backup.

I know that 4TS has WPAT-FM, WSKQ-FM, WHTZ, WKTU, WAXQ, WWPR-FM, WCAA, WLTW on it.

It wouldn't be bad for CBS to move into there as well.

WPLJ, is backed up on the Alpine tower in NJ, with a 2 bay Shively on the top.

HD reception was much better today (Thursday 1/17). I listened to 104.3-HD2 for about 30 minutes with no dropouts.
