92.5 the
country legend has a HD-2 up now...you'll love this....the have what is called
"Radio, Radio" on it.....It's 80's alternative and with the flavor of 80's
punk! ????? I don't get it...very odd!!! I guess when you are done with
Merle Haggard, you can tune into The Clash, The Cure and The Tubes!!!!! I
would had wait until April 1st to do that! LOL! Also WLFJ 89.3 has it's HD up and going. The HD-2 Is Christan Alternative, not bad and the signal is solid in Greenville/Spartanburg. They also have a HD-3 but is dead air, I guess waiting on programming. More to come for Greenville and the upstate with this!

WESC-HD 2 is actually 'Americana-Bluegrass' which makes perfect sense...96-7-2 (WBZT-HD) is the classic alternative you described, WSSL-HD 2 is contemporary Christian, WMYI-HD2 is Hot AC/Mix. 'FBC just came on with regular HD but no side channel yet.

Must be some CE snafu, The classic country/blugrass was on it (ESC) for a little while but disappeared about two months back. I was checking out WESC while going through Asheville and seen the Alternitive stuff is on ESC's HD-2. ??? (ESC has a great HD into Asheville's mountains) I have tried for months to get the HD-2 on WBZT when going through Greenville but it's never on. I'll give BZT credit, the HD-1 sounds great and processed well, but no HD-2. I've noticed that CC's stations must be experimenting a lot, somtimes the main HD will be off for a while- case in point WMYI...the HD-2 was down for a week, then no HD at all....then both were on, same deal with WSSL!! I figure that myself and 3 other people have HD recievers and it's a good time to play for a CE. Another oddball is WOXL Asheville, Their HD is totaly gone, I can't get them to answer emails so who knows with that bunch?

O.K. well, that's certainly not cool. I'll pass on to CE. Not so much experimenting with the HD stuff as just trying to keep it on. A real pain in the ass..and, we have no way to monitor the on-air version in the studio. We can hear the stream. Soon all the kinks will be worked out and we'll have ways to monitor, etc. MYI was having other issues a month or so back that also affected the ability to run HD. I did run a contest on the HD-2 and got a winner. Somebody was listening.

Yeah Craig, It's so new, I bet the CE's know what the guys at KDKA felt like in the early 20's ;D just trying to keep it working!! As for The Buzzard, I like the programming...good music and a good on-air staff....tip of the hat to you Craig, you guys do a good job. I know that the station sounds good and has good imaging AND the HD signal in Greenville is very good with nice processing! When I'm in Greenville I always tune in. I think you guys are VERY underated!

Thanks, nuts. We've got a great cheif eng. but he does have a few things on his plate. He's already gotten back and said......
Well, shit. That may explain why those two have been such a pain to keep on the air. I'll have to triple check the IP addresses on both of them. If they're mixed up, that can cause weird stuff. And there you have it. Sometimes it pays to complain. It's not intentional that we're half-assing this..

Having set up a few HD/HD2 stations myself.... the learning curve is a tad steep. There are a lot of new ways of doing things. The person that said, "now we know what the engineers at KDKA felt like" has really nailed it. We got so used to doing things one way, and now HD has presented a new way of getting audio to the transmitter. Quite a few stations were not set up to do it the new way, and many of the older engineers were not quite grasping the concept.

But in the long run things will be better. Heck when I was getting an HD stations set up 2 years ago the technology was so new that I was asking questions that there were no answers for..... yet.

And yes, your engineer may go "postal" on you once and a while as he gets things set up. Ask him if there is soemthing you can do to help!

I bet when all is said and done, it will work great! I noticed as of 12:30 Sunday 02/04/07 that the HD-2 was gone off ESC..so I bet the CE is working on it. I can't get the Buzzard where I live so I'll have to be treated to BZT's HD-2 when in Greenville and it's on. I bet CE's everywhere will be going bananas getting it to work..BUT the payoff will be great! I know in the forums I have seen lots of Na-sayers on HD, I have to say, so far having a couple radios that I am impressed and glad to see stations spending the money to do it! The sound quaility is excellent!
