Let's refresh our memories...
POWER 105 signed on playing 10,000 songs which heavily leaned old school (pre-1994) hiphop--the years when BLS and Kiss were at their prime....but then something strange happened after "they got HOT 97 and the rest of the audience to notice"...they turned their backs on old school hiphop and became a HOT 97 clone. These days, POWER 105 does no better honoring old school hiphop than HOT 97--labeling Biggie or some Jay-Z tracks as "back in the day," you'd think they can get away with that in Iowa, not in NYC! I'm sorry but hiphop songs later than 1995 should not ever qualify as old school....neither should 2Pac or Biggie.
So to anyone that believes that "old school hiphop" does not deserve an exclusive format on either side of the "free" radio wavelengths, take a listen to HOT and POWER and tell me how many times you hear something pre-1994. OLD SCHOOL AT NOON does not count.
