HDTV channels for Tallahassee Florida

I just brought this new TV at wal-mart and it has a SDTV... When I hook it up I got 4 DTV Tallahassee's channels they are

6-1 WCTV-CBS HD
6-2 WCTV-UPN HD
40-1 WTWC-NBC HD
40-2 WTWC-The Tube (music channel)

I have WFSU-HD but it wont come in very well it kept freeze the picture and serching for singal.

Any other Tallahassee's HD Channels are up like WTXL-HD and WTLH-HD and WTLF-DT I know WTLF-DT 24.1 is on but my new tv won't pick it up.

Are you using an outdoor antenna or cable? WFSU-TV's transmitter site is about 25 miles west of Tallahasse just south of Hwy 20 near Bloxham.

Well, we just did a power upgrade on WTXL-HD...new antenna and feedline...it's still fairly low power though...8kw I think. The full-power buildout date is still up in the air...within a year hopefully. WTLH-HD is only 250 watts at 200 feet in Bainbridge, GA...you would probably have trouble picking it up out of the guy paths. They will be building it out to the full megawatt along with WTLF-HD over the summer.

I check those 2 too WTLH-DT and WTLF-DT but it wont come up on my new SDTV. maybe they are on low power at this time. I live in northeast wakulla county. I am new to this new SDTV thing...

You will probably have to repoint your antenna when you want to watch WFSU since it is in a different direction from where you are at. Their signal is quite strong, so it should be possible from your location. I'm in Bainbridge, and even with a hgih ridge to the south blocking the line-of-sight, I can get WFSU pretty well. Also, when you scan for signals, do it before 6pm so you can get the multicast channels on 11.2, 11.3, and 11.4. After 6pm, they turn those off for HD.

For antenna advice, try the AntennaWeb site (http://www.antennaweb.org). It will take your address and show you what direction to point your antenna for each station. Also, there's a Tallahassee discussion thread in the HDTV Reception forum on AVSForum (http://www.avsforum.com).

What about south georgia like WALB-DT (NBC) and WABW-DT (GPTV) will they reach north florida big bend with their digial singal??

WABW, the GPB affiliate licensed to pelham, will be located on the WCTV tower, and should cover Tallahassee. GPB's digital station in Dawson, WACS, will be used to cover Albany. None of the GPB digital stations are on yet, and probably won't be for a year or more.

WALB, as you may have heard, lost their tower along with WFXL in early June. They are running digital from a short tower at their studios in Albany which covers 20-25 miles. WFXL covers even less. If the new tower for both stations is similar in height and location to the old ones, some Big Bend folks (primarily north of I-10) should be able to receive them, with an outdoor antenna, when they go full power digital.
