HDTV Engineering?

Wish there was a forum for TV questions; technical and engineering...Wasnt sure where to post this one..

I have a Polaroid 32 in HDTV...and on any HD channel that is 480i, the aspect ratio goes 16:9 even if the station is transmitting 4:3.....anyone else have that problem?? I checked with another brand and it shows the channels in question just fine....and there is no way to change the aspect in HD (analog sure can does though!) Also, the channel ID on some HDs is not correct...it shows the actual RF (IE: 22-1) instead of the "moniker" (PSAP?) sent by the station....and that doesnt cut it with me...I see some other brands look like the one I have (RS sells one now for $799 with very similar looks, etc) so I guess I am not the only one with this issue!

PSIP.

It's possible the station is sending the actual RF.

Possible but not in this case...other HDTVs show correct PSIP.....and other channels show up correctly on TV in question (the HD channel in question was the 1st one found by this TV in original scan when installed; other channels are showing their PSIPs ok..maybe I might remove the antenna and do another scan and see if it removes the "bad" channel and then reattach the antenna to see what happens) Also the secondary Digital channel (480i) has its audio about 2-4 seconds behind the video sometimes....guess this one will have to go back to Polaroid (or Circuit City)..

My wife noticed that 27.1 disappeared from our channel list (KDFI-DT, Dallas/Ft. Worth, MyTV), so I rescanned for it on channel 36 (The actual channel for 27), and it now shows up as 36.1. This is the only channel that has done that. Usually when I rescan a digital channel, it picks up the 'virtual' channel number and adds that to the channel list.
