HDTV question

Greg,

I have one more question...

I have the DB2 and a preamp. I noticed the preamp states "if splitting the signal to multiple TV's OR combining with another signal source, it is strongly recommended that the power injector be installed between the preamp and the splitter/combiner input.

Should I do this in this situation? Brand new TV ya know. :)

Thanks for all your help.

EDIT: I have a splitter from Channel Master says "two way power divider, 950 - 2100 MHZ. Will that work cause it says use 54-806 Mhz or wider bandwidth in the preamp manual.

I don't think that your splitter is going to work. The frequencies used for VHF and UHF TV signals are all below 950 MHz. The 950-2100 MHz bandwidth is L-band that is typically the input to a satellite receiver.

Go to Wally World or Rat Shack and get a standard splitter. Here is one at Rat Shack - kind of expensive can probably get one at Wally World for less than 5 bucks.

You are correct in that feeding a DC voltage into the input of either the TV or the converter box is a bad thing. To be safe, I would definately install the power injector between the splitter and the preamp, so that the splitter is "upstream" from the power injector.

Greg,

Via the setup provided the setup works great except for the TV in the other room that has a 'analog' tuner I must turn the VCR on in order to watch digital stations via the RCA converter box. Is a setup possible where I can watch with the converter box as well without turning on the VCR?

Thanks

You might want to use the following URL for a more robust TV guide than you'll get OTA:

http://tvlistings3.zap2it.com/partners/grid.asp?partner_id=097

The only items it does not show currently are the digital subs but I expect those will be available within a few months.

Almost forgot.....you'll want to set your own preferences and station line-up. I've had very good success with the accuracy of this particular guide.

This site is a partner of Zap2It - you can just go to Zap2It directly and get all of the digital subs. Except that as of 11/11/08 1:00 PM MST, the website is down.

TitanTV is also a good listing service - equal to Zap2It.

Which is why I recommended the above site vs Zap2It. Their home site is frequently down/unavailable.

Two entirely different experiences, I guess - that was the first time I've been unable to access the main site, and they're back up now, 5 hours later.
