"HE SAID, SHE SAID" WVEE ATLANTA?

I'm writing from Boston, Ma, I work in radio here in Boston.

I was on Westwood One" website Westwoodone.com. It states there is a new Slow Jams show "He Said She Said" It stated it is hosted by Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker from WVEE fin Atlanta. They didn't state what time it broadcast nor what days it broadcast.

??? I'm assuming it might be on weeknights? But I don't know. I don't have access to a copmputer at home, so I am able to check it out at that time.

Have any of you heard of this show down there?

I checked out the website for WVEE and saw nothing regarding these two people?

May you tell me if you heard anything about this show? Please let me know?

I also looked on Kiss 104 website and saw nothing as well as HOT 107.9

Also, I believe Keith Sweat broadcast his show live from Atlanta "Keith Sweat Hotel" I'm surprised his show hasn't yet been on there in Atlanta?

Anyways, please tell me anything you all might know about "He Said She Said"

Thank you

Keith Sweat is indeed broadcasting here from Atlanta. All of our Urban stations have live local jocks at night. I know for a fact V-103 isn't getting rid of Joyce Litel's "Quiet Storm" unless she retires. Slow jamz wouldn't work on HOT 107.9 and Majic 107.5/97.5 has SiMan from 7pm-12am. Kiss 104.1's format is exclusively old school R&B, without new R&B songs.. Considering it's live from CBS V-103 that would be the only station it would possibly be on in Atlanta. Westwood One already has "Slow Jamz" with R.Dub and "After Hours" with Theo weeknights so this is interesting.

Shawty let's hope you are not employed as a fact checker. Rodney Ho is reporting That Joyce Littel is gone from V103. She commented on Twitter she was celebrating her release. Sounds like they got rid of her?

Devotion to Accuracy Department. Rodney didn't report it. Staff writer Jennifer Brett filed the report. Rodney is still on his honeymoon with Bert Weiss.

Wow. I'm kind of amazed.

A year ago, then Dave-FM PD Mike Wheeler spoke at the semi-annual CBS Radio Arbitron breakout luncheon and introduced his jocks. I spoke with him by phone at about 3:30 that afternoon. By day's end, he was gone.

Last week at the luncheon, Frank Ski introduced the V-103 on-air staff, including Joyce. He talked about her longevity at the station.

That luncheon must be a curse.

A bad decision on the upper suits at CBS Radio, and I have a feeling that WPGC will be also join in as one of this show's affiliates. "The Quiet Storm" & Joyce Littel are staples of the WVEE line-up. I should have known something was up last year when they let Boris and Nicole simulcast their "show" on WVEE and WPGC. CBS is starting to strip their flagship stations of what made them original and top rated and that is all-local programming on the weekdays from 6am to midnight.

Considering I posted this on the 18th and ajc is just now reporting her departure today go figure. She's been with them so long and her departure was so sudden. The "Quiet Storm" as of tonight is still on the air and Joyce's profile is still on V-103's website. Rtibbs, maybe you should've posted her departure first so I would've known.

I agree with you. It's a sad day when V-103 eliminates local programming.

Penny wise and dollar foolish. One of the stations I worked at a (name with held to protect the guilty, I still might have to use the owner as a reference) got the bright idea to satellite their AM right after I left. It worked on his FM, and the potential savings were large. I honestly say that for every dollar they saved in salaries it cost them three in billings. I know the station’s former sales weasel. I helped her get a job. Three years later the station sold for almost one half what it was purchased for four years earlier. I know there are hundreds of examples of small operators in towns that can’t support a full staffed station but I do not think Atlanta is that small.

It's not, it's in the top 10 in the radio markets in the nation. It surpassed DC just last year, so it lets you know how "large" they are these days. CBS is going to cost themselves more than they can afford with this stupid moves. It would be better for V-103 to just go jockless with the "Quiet Storm" from 10pm to 2am if they truly were trying to save money. They are trying to do the "name recognition" game which is more of bad gamble. Also if WALR, WUMJ/WAMJ, or WHTA smells "blood in the water" then WVEE will be in some trouble...

I'll just say it like this, in Birmingham where a full power urban like WVEE was taken down by 2 rimshots because of instability in programming...

Unfortunately the slow drip of the economy wipes out another great personality. Joyce is a great broadcaster and witty entertainer. V-103 has gone to the dogs and has decided to cater to a kiddie audience.

I don’t get it, while their PPM numbers are through the roof, ultimately when advertisers start spending again, they may have run off their older loyal audience by playing horrible music throughout the day. How will they make money in the long run? God help the sales staff at V-103.

Boris Kodjoe, Really?

The strange thing is they are trying to make up with the older audience with the sudden injection of more old school and throwbacks into the regular rotation. They might be able to retain the older audience, but the slow jams show from 10pm to 2am won't be able to do like it used to when Joyce Littel who at times was beating WALR and WAMJ/WUMJ for the 25-54 demo.

They play the majority of old school R&B during middays with Elle between 10am-2pm. The hip-hop songs are around the clock, but Greg Street's show from 6pm-10pm plays the most of it.

No, as of late they have been playing a lot of old school hip-hop and R&B from the late 1980s through early 2000s through out the day since last weekend. I heard old school hip hop getting played during Ryan Cameron and Frank Ski & Wanda in the regular rotation, and it wasn't a mix either.

Kilamanjero, ever noticed V-103 started a lot of the old school R&B music in middays once MAJIC 107.5/97.5 flip formats. They started skewing towards the older songs when 97.1 JAMZ had first came on air too. I think V wants to hold on to the older work crowd after Franks Ski's show instead of them flipping to KISS 104.1 or MAJIC 107.5. As far as V-103 playing old school hip-hop its a good thing. Thats the music thats missing from all our Urban stations.

Just a thought, Is there enough material for an “Old School” rap oldies format? Go all the way back past Run DMC and the Fat Boys. No R & B just hip hop (well maybe a little old R & B but only what would be played in a dance club). There are 70’s 80’s & 90’s rock / pop stations.

I think an old school hip-hop show would be a great fit on Urban AC stations like on the weekends. As far as a format playing all old schol hip-hop there are 2 that come to mind. 92.7/99.3 The Beat in Phoenix and 93.5 KDAY in LA. Here on the home front 97.1 JAMZ would've been our best bet.

Yeah, I noticed that since 2003 that V-103 has added a lot of throwbacks to their playlist. However, during the 2006-2008 period they dropped a lot of old school, but abruptly brought it back in late 2008 with the WAMJ/WUMJ flip.
