Headed Downeast

What stations can I expect to listen to while I'm there? I'm a classic rock guy myself, are there any classic rock stations in that part of the state and most importantly, do the Bangor FM's reach that far?

I'm not sure about KIT (100.3) but you should be able to get MJ (95.7)...depending on how far Downeast you're gonna be.

there's WQDY Calais/WALZ Machias which I believe is classified as a classic hits (last I knew they carried a partial schedule ofJones Radio's Classic Rock service), 105 WTOS is on 101.1 now, WNSX 97.7 is another good one downeast. I have no idea what's on the Canadian side besides country on 98.1

WQDY if I'm not mistaken also is a Red Sox affiliate! Convenient if you're following the BoSox from your oil tanker in the Bay of Fundy! ;D

Cheers,

WNSX 97.7 "Smooth Rock and Roll" puts out the best sginal downeast, going right into Lubec and Eastport, but not into Calais. And the WQDY 92.7/WALZ 95.3 simulcast will get you up north to about Woodland. There are several Saint John stations that put a decent signal into down-east maine. Probably 98.9 would be the closest to Classic Rock. The Bangor stations pretty much fade away once you get to Machias, although with a good antenna and tuner you can get them a bit further east. Enjoy your visit!
