I saw a story on our local news about Headline News, a studio light poped and started a small fire, forcing them to evacuate. According to the story, they were off for about 10 minutes. Did anyone see this? What did they broadcast in the mean time?
______________

Kinda surprised Chuck Roberts made mention of this "Fire in the studio" and "We're outta here"....and the shot afterwards with the anchors and floor manager looking up at the ceiling...Figured he...or she would just say "We ll be right back" or something like that....Besides, they could have just switched to CNN Regular, or even International, without missing a beat.

I once saw the same thing happen on a weekend sportscast on WCAX TV Channel 3 in Burlington, VT years ago. Big BIG pop of one of the overhead spots...but the sportscaster leaned back, glanced up, paused a moment, and continued. No fire, and he kept his composure.
Edited by studiotwenty on 03/23/06 01:48 AM.

They cut to the "Primetime tonight" graphic for a bit longer than usual a couple of times, and ran the "Your Money" segment and a couple of commercials. The briefly showed a shot of the empty floor with a clueless floor manager just standing around.

The Atlanta media (where CNN and Headline News are based) haven't said much about it (unless I missed it).

I don't think CNN Center (CNN Global HQ) was even evacuated, and CNN remained on the air (Kyra Phillip's show "Live From" is broadcast from the same building where the fire happened).

Apprently, CNN's emergency operations plan worked (if they have one, which they most probably do).

I know Headline News has 2 studios in CNN Center ... wouldn't it have been easier to just walk everyone over there?

Of course, if it only took 7 minutes or so to fix, I guess it wasn't required.
