Heard an ad for C Crane Radio

You may want to look at www.ccrane.com. The radio is called the CCradio-2 and it does have the 2 meter band. I'm not sure how well this radio performs since I don't own one. I think it has single conversion in the AM band like its predecessor.

When I heard it was equalized for talk radio (which I never listen to), I was not interested in one. I have heard that it has an AGC problem where strong stations on adjacent frequencies overload it, making listening to first adjacents difficult. That is the same problem as the 12-603 / 12-903 from Radio Shack. A GE Superadio 3 does not have the issue.

C Crane radios are usually advertised during Coast to Coast programs and are available through Universal Radio.

If you only need superb AM and FM (I haven't DXed with the FM), and you don't want to spend a lot of money, at least take a look at the Sangean PR-D5. It has a 7.9" ferrite antenna and is very directional. You can buy it for about $72 with free shipping from Amazon, & it is available from many other internet retailers.

I have one & garfla has one also.

Another good radio is the CCRadio SW; I have this radio; it also has a big ferrite AM antenna; it also performs great on FM (as long as you're not too close to the FM tower(s)). On FM it can tune in .01 MHz steps, the best I've seen in portable radios, and 1 kHz on AM.
