Heard, But Never Seen

Never seen oldie;
Gladys (Pete's wife on December Bride and Pete and Gladys).

On December Bride......never seen. However, "Pete and Gladys" without Gladys would have been pretty tough- it would have been like "I Love Lucy" with no Lucy...

Never saw December Bride, but I thought I remembered Pete & Gladys from its daytime syndication run and knew there had to be a Gladys... Cara Williams, right?

On MASH, Sparky, a company clerk from another unit that Radar talked to, was unseen except for possibly once.

That's one more time than Captain Tuttle was ever seen!

On the original incarnation of "Around The Horn" on ESPN (with Max Kellerman), Disembodied Voice was never seen.

Thought of a couple more:

-the female dispatcher on Adam-12 (who was a real person and whose real job was a police dispatcher, if I'm not mistaken)

-the male dispatcher (heard on the overhead intercom in the firehouse) on Emergency

-the female dispatcher on CHiPs

ADAM-12 and EMERGENCY! were both Jack Webb productions and it is fairly well known by TV trivia buffs that Webb was a stickler for reality, so yes the dispatchers on ADAM-12 and EMERGENCY! were in fact real, the dispatcher on ADAM-12 was Shaaron Claridge, here is her IMDB entry http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0163576/ the dispatcher on EMERGENCY! was Sam Lanier, here is his IMDB entry http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0486836/ As far as the dispatcher on CHIPs is concerned, I don't believe she was a real dispatcher, but an actress playing the part.

Chevy Chase's 'girlfriend' That he was talking to on the phone right at the beginning of "Weekend Update" on the original Saturday Night Live

Seldom seen on Three's Company after about 1980: Suzanne Somers. I believe this was due to her husband's outrageous salary demands for her, back about that time, that the producers of the show either could not, or would not meet, so they limited her time on the show to just a cameo appearance at the very end, in which Jack and/or Janet would talk to Chrissy by phone from wherever she happened to be at the time. And of course, Suzanne was eventually written out of the show entirely.

Also, does anyone remember the '70s House reality show that aired on MTV a few years back? They had a "heard, but never seen" guy, patterned after Charlie on Charlie's Angels, who gave them their marching orders, but whom they never met. On the last episode, they were promised a meeting with him, but actually only got a fleeting shot of him as he left in a limousine!

I am shocked that no one has mention:

The radio announcer from "Gilligan's Island."

I am shocked that you didn't read post #6 of this very thread on it's first page where I mentioned the radio announcer from Gilligan's Island.

And going even further back in time.....

The Kirby's and their martini drinking dog were never seldom seen in Topper.

Then why did Robert Sterling and Anne Jeffreys (George & Marian Kirby) have second and third billing? They were seen on the opening credits, and much of the show.

To say that they were "seldom" seen is an inaccurate understatement.

Here's one that is still on the Air...............The Big Bang Theory

So far we have not seen Leonard's mother..........but she is always heard yelling.....and with that voice one can only image what she looks like.

This may have been mentioned - Carlton the Doorman on Rhoda. Voiced by Lorenzo Music, who was an entertainment industry jack of all trades. He was the creator of the Bob Newhart Show, and wrote scripts as well as the theme music. He was one of the of producers on Rhoda, if I remember correctly; and did a lot of commercial voiceover work. Music was also the voice of the animated Garfield, and later hosted a decent but short lived talk/variety show with his wife Henrietta.

Sadly, he died rather young (64) of cancer.

Knight Rider, KIT. Voice only.
I know this is going to be considered nitpicking but does kitt really count for this. We saw KITT hundreds of times on knight rider "he" was one of the central characters in the show after all, and besides if we see the person who does the voice of KITT, it totally blows the concept doesn't it?

I don't remember seeing Leonard's mother either but she isn't the one with the horrible voice. That mom would be Howard Wolowitz's mom (Howard is played by Simon Helberg and has the Moe Howard haircut).

I know 'seldom' is a stretch but considering this show was a pioneer in the 'ghost' biz I thought it deserved an airing.
