...classic disco and some current dance on 93-9/MIA (WLVE). I was very slow to flip to AM, but I had a father who wanted to listen to sports (and NOT Rush Limbaugh on WIOD). We listened to WQAM, which is basically all-Dolphins-all-the-time. One host called a Dolphins tight end the three-letter F word (as opposed to the traditional four-letter F word), while a weekend host complimented Bill Belichick on the Matt Cassel/Mike Vrabel trade to KC for a second round pick. Anyway, back to MIA (aka WLVE) - the recent convert from smooth jazz had so much dance (Donna Summer, Michael Jackson, Stevie B, and Miquel Brown's "So Many Men") that I didn't even bother listening to any other music station during my time in Delray Beach. Too bad there's no station in Boston which plays dance music on a regular basis other than on the Lost 45s, and THAT has to be shoehorned in-between the Partridges, the Osmonds and the Bradys. (No offense, Barry, great show!) There were a couple of odd music choices: Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocketful Of Sunshine" and (especially) No Doubt's "It's My Life." MIA playing that rock tune is like AAF or ZLX playing Chic's "Le Freak" - one of the best songs ever IMMHO, but no fit for either station.

Gee, why can't Boston have a station like 93-9/MIA? :-[
