Heard something on 1521 on NC coast on 9/10 evening

Last Monday about 8 pm EST on the Outer Banks of NC, I heard a loud het on 1521 mixing in with WKBW Buffalo. As I turn the radio to reduce the het but to position it in the west/east direction, an audio came out, it was perhaps Middle-East like music, sounded like a guy singing. I am positive it's (not sure the name of this station) in Saudia Arabia considering it's a 2 million watt station. The radio is a new Sangean ATS-909X and I used only its internal ferrite antenna. Heard few hets on some other 9 kHz channels --531, 1359 and 1341. This was in a motel room.

Good snag! I've bagged Saudi 1521 once on the D5, but (oddly enough) not on my DX-440. I've had to put up with many hours of Buffalo's 'progressive talk', trying to catch it again.

Thanks, guys. I returned home in VA and just a few minutes ago, I heard Absolute 1215...extremely super-weak signal. Oh, BTW, when I said "WKBW Buffalo" in the first post, I meant WWKB, though WKBW was the old call letters.

What surprises me is that you actually picked it up from a hotel room. Most of the time the AM reception is impossiblein a hotel because of all the television creating buzz. In most hotels you have to put the radio in the window to get anything unless there is tower nearby.

There was little interference in this motel at that time, and later, it got a bit noisy when nearby guests have their TVs or anything else on.

Very nice catch!

I keep meaning to drag some gear along and head for the Outer Banks for some DX'ing. Maybe load the Jeep and camp on the beach before it gets too cold.......
