Heard The Dixie Chicks For The First Time In A While On...

Drum roll please!!! Fuzion 100.1 FM.  I was surfing the dial to see what was on, yesterday and as I went by Fuzion, I heard a song on there.  As I was listening, I said hold up this couldn't be the Dixie Chicks.  A few seconds later, I discovered it was.  The song they played was Wide Open Spaces.  When this station was Country, the Chicks were removed from their playlist.  Now that they are doing the Variety Hits thing, it doesn't surprise me they would bring them back.

This radio station still doesn't impress me.  Their musical presentation is one big mess indeed.

Been hearing more of the classic soul and pop tunes on ALEX FM, as of late.  Glad they're stepping it up.  Someone needs to give Fuzion a run for its money and presentation.  Hope ALEX FM will soon take the winds out of their sails and force them to make a return to Country music.

I drive in Alabama often. IMHO the last thing Alabama needs is more Urban or Country stations. How about some Classic Hits / oldies or CCMs?

Fuzion needs to rethink playing any Dixies Chicks and yank them off the airwaves. I am not yet in a forgiving mood when it comes to them and Natalie's big mouth.

To ccgrider: Agreed on that Dixie Chicks statement.

It would be wise for Fuzion to yank them off their playlist.

To secondchoice: I will agree with the CCM thought.

Still have plans of building Selma's first and only voice for all things CCM.

Hope to have something in the works by this time next year.

Will start off as a LPFM but have plans of of expanding my reach should this broadcast take off and do very well.

Give the Dixie Chicks a break. There are artists that have done a lot worse things then say something bad about a President. Say murder perhaps and there music is still getting played.

You sure seem to hold a grudge.

No one has done anything to them (even on this thread) compared to what they did to themselves. They spent years trying to commit career suicide, then once they succeeded, they played the "victim" card, and blamed everyone but themselves for their misfortunes. Badmouthing President Bush was just a symptom of all that, not really a cause of anything. Martie badmouthing country music fans for daring to be fans of other groups besides them was the final nail in the coffin for most of their fans.

Does Alabama really need more CCM? Doesn't every market have one or two stations doing it now?

In my personal hit the scan button an see what comes up experiences in Alabama (west out of range of Dothan stations on the way to Mississippi) usually end up Southern Gospel (mostly on AM), Urban or Country. I not knocking anybody's programming It is just like CC bought the whole state and only ran 3 or 4 of their cookie cutter formats in the whole state! I haven't be over there since July, (instead Southwestern North Carolina where a lot of places the radio does not stop on scan on either AM or FM. There are even places there that Sirrus / XM doesn't work in rental car either!) So I guess I should be thankful for any decent signal.

I agree with SecondChoice, need more oldies, got enough urban and country. Enough of the "Dixie Chunks" also

Speaking of the Dixie Chicks, I heard them sing again on Fuzion 100.1 FM, earlier today.

This time the song was Cowboy Take Me Away.

Didn't laugh this time.

I just listened and put on my best grin.

I understand the reason for playing their music again.

Fuzion is all over the map, musically speaking, so they can get away with it.

Fusion did not show in the last Montgomery ARB. Dispite billboards and cash give aways, it did not make the ARB report, Bad signal, bad format, Fusion is someone's pipe dream.

Doesn't the radio station have to buy Arbitron to be listed in the 6+ we see? IIRC Cumulus was not buying Arbitron in a lot of the sub 100 markets for a while and their clusters were not listed for most of last year. It is my understanding if you "buy" Arbitron, you will be listed. If your station doesn't, then you are not listed in the 6+ we see on line.

Yes. Only the stations that subscribe will show in the 6+ ratings made viewable to the public. Cumulus had opted out of subscribing many its markets but it has started subscribing some of the larger ones again. Huntsville was a nonsubscribed market for Cumulus last year but they have begun to show again.

Fusion did not receive enough diary credit to meet "minimum reporting status" and therefore did not show in the Arbitron Fall 2012 report. It has nothing to do with stations who "don't subscribe". They will still show up if the minimum criteria is reached - they just won't get published to anyone but subscribing parties. Only subscribers see all stations. Fusion didn't show - even with Alabama Football. One has to wonder how long UA will put up with no presence in the Capitol of Alabama before they pull the plug on ConfuZion.

I'm beginning to see the stages of a big train wreck for them anyway.

It won't be long now.

Stau tuned.

P.S. I look for Bama to find themselves a new Gump station, before the 2013 season gets underway.

B.T.W. How's those moo cows working out for ya, Fuzion 100?  Hope you found enough, in Lowndes County, to stay afloat.

I predict the Alabama foootball will be gone from Fusion (confusion) for the 2013 season. No ratings, no signal, wrong city of license=no more Alabama football at 100.1. Alabama had too many complaints of the lack f Mortgomery coverage.

Let's make ourselves a lil' ol' prediction.

I predict one of these Gump stations, will become the new Bama football station, this season:

95.1 FM The Fox
103.3 FM Mix
107.5 FM The Ticket

I know most of you reading will say it'll be 95.1 The Fox.

Highly unlikely if Mix 103.3 would pick up the game.

If Mr. Stroh was offered a chance to become the new Bama station for the Gump, I could see him doing everything possible to make it happen.
