Hearing CHWO in Wilmington NC

I was able to listen to CHWO relatively clear
last night 12/28/05 about about 2;30 AM. It
brought back memories of how I used to listen to
Canadian radio when I was a kid in northwestern
PA.,particularly CJBC. They had great music, similar
to CHWO but more jazz. I remember in the mid 50's
listening to Bing Whitakers Bing's choice in the
early afternoon and Dick McDougal's jazz show on
late Saturday afternoon. They also carried great
radio plays from the CBC network. I gues they
changed to a French speaking format sometime in
the 60's.

It's great that CHWO still plays some of that
great music of the past.

Yesterday I was flying a Beechcraft King Air from Ottawa to Winnipeg and listened to CHWO on the ADF at 24,000 ft from well east of North Bay until somewhere around Thunder Bay.

CHWO has a very big signal and one night in Negril, Jamaica, I was out on the balcony tuning around on my Yachtboy 400 and heard a strong one on 740 ... turned out to be CHWO and after about 15 minutes it faded into the static never to be heard again.

To demonstrate the northern coverage, I've heard it in a hotel room in Rankin Inlet on my GE Superadio 3. Look up those two points on a map and think of the number of people that signal covers.

I hope they are doing well in sales, as they offer an alternative to programming aimed at the 18 to 34 market.

Regards,
Lee
