New National Classic TV Network Me-TV (very similar to WGHP-TV 8`s Antenna TV Network) has been signing up many new stations across the country. They are actually growing faster than Antenna TV! Hearst Broadcasting (along with several others like Media General) have signed agreements in put Me-TV in various markets. Me-TV has access to the Pramount/CBS video library and such shows as "My Three Sons", "Gomer Pyle, USMC", "Beverly Hilbillies". etc. It is distubted by the same company that does THIS TV network. At the strat of the year, they covered 1 percent of the U.S. and today have clearance ib 45 % and are growing very fast! I love Antenna TV, but it will be great to have Me-TV in the market VERY soon! I am told that Me-TV will debut soon on WXII-TV 12.3!!! They are now seen in Raleigh, NC and Charlette also.

Finally an opportunity to watch hours and hours of Gomer Pyle and the Beverly Hillbillies, it's just what this market needs. You can bet I'll be glued to 12.3. Please let me know when this is going to happen. as I need to give my employer at least 2 weeks notice before resigning. With quality programming like this who can be expected to hold down a job. I hope they don't put Gomer Pyle on at the same time the Warthogs will be on the radio. Thanks so much GTGO for staying on top of this breaking story. I don't know what most of us would do if you didn't keep us updated on local TV.

You are very much welcome my friend! I think that you should take early retirement and devote every day to watching hours and hours of WGHP-TV 8.2-Antenna TV and WXII-TV 12.3-ME TV. After watching the entire 48 hours of a Gomer Pyle, USMC marathon, you will be able to say that you have really lived a great life.

Don't worry, WXII is not on the MeTV affiliate list at this time, so this is pure speculation.

LOL- They are not on the station list yet-because they are not one yet-LOL!!! 12.3 will be a ME-TV station VERY soon!!! Hearst Broadcasting has ALREADY signed the clearance agreement!!! Weigel is the company handling Me-TV distrubtion. They also handle THIS-TV (which WXII-TV 12.2 carries). Weigel has been VERY aggressive in the last 2-3 months with selling Me-TV. They went from about 1% coverage of the US early in the year, to right over 40% now in 2-3 months! Wiegel is aggressively working with not only Hearst, but companies like Media General and CBS-owned stations, etc. Really, Weigel is being very smart in how they are handling Me-TV. THIS-TV has really been a success for them, and it looks like Me-TV will also! The WXII-TV 12.3 thing is already a done deal. It will be formally announced very soon. A good addition to Piedmont Triad TV selection.

Well that sounds incontrovertible.
[insert your own Warthogs-baseball or Rod-Davis-not-showing-up-to-throw-the-switch joke
Or just go with DYN-O-MITE!

According to whom? A generalized press release? Someone in an internet forum (like this?) Someone with a vivid imagination?

Think I will wait until the real thing comes through.

finally. a small admission by the TV programmers about demographics.
the mass of TV viewing is the under 14 and over 55 ages.
"Pyle" programming will appease the NCIS/CSI/L&O demo.
the last remaining hope for 18-35 males is Live Sports.
that same female demo has gone NetFlix/On Demand.

Exactly zero of the Hearst stations that are actual announced affiliates have started airing it at this time. WXII is not on that list. Ergo, WXII will not be an affiliate, and until it appears on the MeTV affiliate list along with the others, I will not believe that it is an affiliate.

They have clearance in 40% of the country. Many of those affiliates have yet to actually launch MeTV. http://www.rabbitears.info/search.php?request=network_search&network=MeTV All the affiliates in yellow-orange have not yet launched.

Wiegel is aggressively working with not only Hearst, but companies like Media General and CBS-owned stations, etc.

This is the sentence that lets me know that you are making things up. CBS O&O stations are not affiliated with MeTV. None at all. CBS is known for not having any subchannels at all, and though that will soon be changing in New York and Los Angeles, they are not signed with MeTV.

No, it's not a done deal until it's on the MeTV affiliate list. Until then, it's idle speculation on a message board by people with more time than they know what to do with.

Personally, I'd rather have Gomer Pyle and The Beverly Hillbillies than stupid "infomercials", weather maps or religious programming. :D

Apparently you're new here. GreatTimesGreatOldies loves anything involving speculation, Tom Collins, and how every single media outlet should be converting to some oldies format wether that be TV or Radio or Internet. Too bad newspapers can't go oldies, maybe that would fix their sales numbers.

Now that's an idea! Just think of the advertising...Winn-Dixie T-Bone steaks, 59 cents a lb.! :D

People could relive their glory days over and over reading the stories too! "Picking up the Daily Beacon is like going back into the past!" (what was the name of the paper in Back to the Future, maybe we could rip that off)
That time where you hit two home runs in a high school baseball game? It's coming, if it's not already in there.
That time where your cousin got married? It's coming, if it's not already in there.
That time where an old lady crashed her car into a bus full of schoolkids at the corner of Oak and Salem St.? It's coming if it's not already in there.
All the great story hits of the past, back onto newsprint, just like the original!
Just don't let the playlist be too large and unfocused. And only deliver it to the asylum where GTaGO gets his meds filled. :)

This isn't going to do me one bit of good. WXII's tower is too far away and I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on an outdoor antenna (yes, I've spent hundreds on cable, but it works!). And hundreds more for a DVR or similar device that can record digital channels. Right now I have to set the channel manually and leave it there or remember to put it back before I record a specific show.

I would like to see more "Beverly Hillbillies" episodes. I know I haven't seen them all. I think I saw most of the first few seasons when WFMY did it, but that's been years.

Don`t worry, there is still WGHP-TV 8.2 serving up ample portions of "The Monkees", "Partridge Family", "Hazel", "Father Knows Best", "Dennis The Menace", etc.... that should hold ya until WXII-TV 12.3 appears!! Actually, WGHP-TV 8.2 is super TV!!
