Just noticed that tonight Heather Moore (formerly of Ch 3) was with Sean on the 5pm news. I always liked her at ch 3 and is a nice welcome addition to ch 5

Also, it looks like Pat McReynolds is permanently on mornings. At least, he is in the latest commercials for the CBS5 Morning News (starting at 4:30am!!).

Man maybe it is just Channel 3 is light-hearted and goofy kinda attitude for their news team cause I know that Heather used to anchor the 8:00 PM Newscast. I think she is a great fit for Channel 5 and works well with Sean McLaughlin.

It was the poor wording of my post. I was just trying to make an observation, not a claim that Catherine is leaving! I have no inside knowledge, but Heather was really good. So, Catherine better stop running marathons... ;D (Again, this is only my OPINION!). Sorry for the confusion.
MusicFan, I must agree that they came across as "whiny" on the refusal of Jan Brewer to grant them an interview. My thought is that it could have been cast as "Brewer refused to comment to our reporter", rather than blathering on and on about it. If KPHO has evidence that Brewer is refusing to speak with them, then they need to come out with WHY this is happening. Did she object to earlier reporting by KPHO or what? And, by the way, KPHO's current sports and weather teams are not terribly inspiring. They come across as pretty bland. Are they just trying to save money or something?

Sean just comes across as a whiny weasel to me anyways. I saw that interview. Now it just reinforces why I don't watch CBS 5 News. I thought he came across as quite juvenile and not professional.

Sounds like the same problem that Royal Norman had during his brief weekend anchor stint at Channel 12 several years ago. He's just not news-anchor material, and seems far more comfortable doing weather.
formeraa said:Royal tried anchoring the news?!? He puts me to sleep when he does the weather. I can't imagine him anchoring the news. Isn't being a good sports or weather person enough? Why try to make them into main anchors?
formeraa said:However, I don't see the funny/weird sports guy (think Kevin Hunt on KPNX) ever transitioning to news.
MusicFan2009 said:Sean just does not feel or seem comfortable in anchor role. He was a great Chief Meteorologist but sure sucks as an anchor. Maybe he should go back to weather.
