Heather Unruh at 5 on 5

Fridays is a big news day. The release came out today saying Heather Unruh
is moving from EyeOpener shift to anchoring 5pm newshour with Anthony Everett.
Split shift for her like Harding has been doing there.

I guess the EyeOpener weekend gang is getting moved to weekdays later this year. That's the word.

Soooo, looks like Unruh is officially the #2 news diva at 5, meaning that
Harding and her should be reunited on the 5 and 11 patrol very soon. And,
yeh, she keeps her chief medical reporter badge as well.

No news from 4. They're going ahead with Josh and Lisa into the premeiere
week unlike some speculating about Jack Williams' return.

Interesting choice. I would have thought Liz Brunner would have gotten the nod. Is she only at 11 these days?

11 for now. She's be doing reporting 5 and 6 as well. Remember one thing,
Brunner came to 5 to be a reporter for Chronicle(replacing Andria Hall),
not as an anchor. She then fell into the morning anchor job when Susan Burke bolted with the famous 2-week notice. And, when Heather Kahn left, Brunner
kind of fell into the night anchor job, too. Reporting, not anchoring,
is her strength.

I definitely agree with that!

The statement on WCVB's website, thebostonchannel.com, states that Heather Unruh is adding the 5pm newscast to her duties; it doesnt mention anything about the 530 show. So Liz Brunner, presumably, is staying with Anthony Everett at 530, at least for now, and also anchoring at 11pm with Ironman Ed Harding.

So starting Monday the 12th, we should see:

5am-7am Heather and Ed
noon Susan Wornick/Jim Boyd (Jim anchored the Eyeopener for years)
500pm-530pm Heather and Anthony
530pm-600pm Liz and Anthony
600pm-630pm Natalie
1100pm Liz and Ed

Weekend morning Eyeopener: Rhondella Richardson/Kelly Tuthill

Any guesses on eventual moves: The original post mentioned that the weekend morning team will be moving to weekday mornings. That would free Heather to move into the 530 and maybe the 11pm posts as well, keeping her teamed with Ironman Ed, bouncing both Liz and Anthony.

So if this Eyeopener thing happens, here are my guesses (even though I was wrong about Natalie retiring):

5am-7am Rhondella/Kelly
noon Susan/Jim
5pm-530 Heather and Ed
530-600 Heather and Ed (or Liz and Ed)
6pm-630 Natalie
11pm Heather and Ed

Both Liz and Anthony will be bounced to primarily reporting duties (or maybe the weekend Eyeopener).

I'm SURE I'll be right about something here ;o)

This is the same station that still hasn't replaced the weekend evening co-anchor seat after David Muir left for ABC News. Bob Halloran has been pulling double-duty as weekend sports anchor and weekend news co-anchor.

Also in the mix of all this is Anthony Everett's new role as interim co-host of "Chronicle."

And yet we always criticize 4 for not knowing what to do with their talent...

Talent is a relative term. 4's talent is absolutely unmarketable
because they can't connect with the audience. What they do with
their talent is totally irrelavant at this point. They won't make people watch
them if they just shuffle faces around.
