HEAVY CIGARETTE SMOKER JIM THISTLE DIAGNOSED WITH THROAT CANCER

C

Casablanca

Guest
When will people learn? Jim Thistle who has been the news director of just about every station in Boston as well as a professor at BU has been diagnosed with throat cancer. Thistle admits to smoking like Edward R. Murrow. Let's hope he doesn't end up like him. Good night and good luck....

Very respectful post, Casablanca.

Jim Thistle is a class act in every sense of the word. I studied broadcast journalism under Prof. Thistle, and I can say first hand he's a great teacher and mentor who's certainly 'been there and done that.' Thistle is an asset to BU and the journalism community in Boston and I hope for nothing but the best for him. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way.
