Hedgecock to KFMB?

I'm hearing murmurs that Roger will be making the move to KFMB after the first of the year and Rick Roberts will be out soon. Anyone else hearing the same?

dr

That might be a good move for KFMB and Roger: with some promotion he still has a few good years left. I'm sure Clear Channel would like to get rid of his salary obligation.

wow very interesting I think they both have worn out their time in SD...maybe good for a refresh money money money oh darn

Very interesting...... I think that CC is not real happy with this development. It's kinda reminding me of DSC's departure, of dont let the door hit you where the good Lord split yah!! LOL

This should be interesting to watch

Since CC is now actively looking for a new host when does Roger get pushed off the air and replaced with a guest host until his replacement comes in? Does he really think that CC will allow him to leave on his own terms at the end of the year? That just doesn't seem to be the way that the business works these days.

Chip, Roger or LaDona. Truly sad days in the radio industry. Clear Channel killed the radio star. More to come at the Deathstar.

Clear Channel is not unlike any other companies that is trying to figure out what do to with radio stations that can't bill what they once did, due to the economy, changing technology, and over paying for radio properties.

The person that Cliff Albert could replace Roger with is someone with 17 years of experience in radio, a pilot, an oil and gas attorney, and he has 12 years experience of fighting for San Diego.....Yes Oh Yes Rick Roberts could make his triumphant return to KOGO, and he could take his very proficient producer C.J. Wheeler. LOL

And Cliff thought Roger was a handful HAHA

I thought Hedgecock was syndicated through some outfit called Radio America? So he isn't on CC payroll. I stopped listening when he went national and dumped his local ties.. Bad move. The reason why it took so long is because Hedgecock bullied the very impotent Albert

And he won't go to KFMB, why put a dying show on a ratings challenged station that Sniff killed dumping Savage (although with Savage's bad attendance record, I would dump him also) Bet Hedgecock is blaming the lead in to his show LaDona, another weak spot but needs to be done because of revenues.

The fascinating issue is that with a politcal season starting after the new year, one knows that Arby's are going to skyrocket again as mall zombies, (those who take an interest only at election time) begin to tune in to radio

but would Hedgecock do better if he went back all local? His syndication is very lackluster and he was a winner when he was 100% SD radio. Just wondering if this is part of the bigger picture...if he went all local in PM drive that might be a good fit for Sniff and KFMB.

Going all local depends upon finding someone willing to pay him for doing that: it sounds like he's been getting paid by the syndication company - not Clear Channel - so KOGO got him as "free" programming. I saw elsewhere that Cliff Albert said they wanted to get rid of Hedgecock because of "ratings," but it seems strange that CC would dump free programming because of low ratings. :)

I think Hedgecock and has been making $250,000 or more for many, many years (one report says the syndication pays him $300K) and it's hard to imagine any station coming close to that and I can't see why KFMB would want to pick up his lame national show, even it is free. I suspect that if Roger is facing unemployment he'll be a lot more affordable, but he's a crafty SOB and and has always done quite well in taking care of himself, whether in public office or radio, so I don't think he's ready to go quietly into retirement yet.

Any syndicated program would be 'free' and if his ratings are suffering then maybe they feel there is a better national alternative. At that time of day there is not much out there though that would be live if that is their desire (and I think that it would be).

I looked at his numbers and in October the numbers went UP when he came on and DOWN when he went off. So, from a curseory glance, it doesn't appear that he is the issue

Hedgecock is an idiot whose time has expired.

I listened to him yesterday as I switched back and forth between AM-FM to check out the new operation. It was quite a contrast - not only because of the AM-FM a difference - but because of the huge difference between his ponderous style and the breezy enthusiasm of LaDonna. I'm not a talk radio listener usually but LaDonna on an FM signal is pretty listenable.
