but would Hedgecock do better if he went back all local? His syndication is very lackluster and he was a winner when he was 100% SD radio. Just wondering if this is part of the bigger picture...if he went all local in PM drive that might be a good fit for Sniff and KFMB.
Going all local depends upon finding someone willing to pay him for doing that: it sounds like he's been getting paid by the syndication company - not Clear Channel - so KOGO got him as "free" programming. I saw elsewhere that Cliff Albert said they wanted to get rid of Hedgecock because of "ratings," but it seems strange that CC would dump free programming because of low ratings.
I think Hedgecock and has been making $250,000 or more for many, many years (one report says the syndication pays him $300K) and it's hard to imagine any station coming close to that and I can't see why KFMB would want to pick up his lame national show, even it is free. I suspect that if Roger is facing unemployment he'll be a lot more affordable, but he's a crafty SOB and and has always done quite well in taking care of himself, whether in public office or radio, so I don't think he's ready to go quietly into retirement yet.
