yep heidi, sounds like a great way to get a foot the door on radio. get an intern job. pretty soon you get to do a few recorded promos. one day if your lucky you maybe even get an on air card/promo reader shift. good luck heidi, we know you have a great future in the business.

this sarcasm moment was brought to you by scott salvatori. God bless those in the business like heidi, who have years of great on air talent on the resume, a good personality, and a long record of success.

There's really no way to tell what KMCQ is doing ratings wise since they don't subscribe to Arbitron/have their numbers published. But whatever their format is, right or wrong, they probably shave a few numbers off KJR-FM.

They could do better. But that's up to them.......

This joke of a station is making waves in the ratings.

If the station doesn't fit the personal tastes of some people here, it's deemed a "joke."

No. All those stations that are encoding using Arbitron's equipment have the ratings available to subscribing stations, rep firms, and ad agencies. Those stations that are encoding but are not subscribing, their ratings are not available publicly.

Do those non-subscribing stations themselves know where they are in the ratings? Just not allowed to release them publicly?

Unfortunately those stations that are still encoding but not subscribing will need to find a friend (mole) at a subscribing station or agency and then perhaps that person could tell how the non-subscribing station is doing, though that would be in violation of Arbitron's contract with the subscribing station.

Which really begs the question, if you don't want anyone to know how well you're doing, then simply disconnect the encoding apparatus, with proper notice to Arbitron of course.

However, in the case of KMCQ, I'd advise them to encode.....that way the station is more saleable, with numbers available from a discreet station or rep firm (be careful if you do, otherwise the market might be embargoed for a short time). I'm presuming the station is open to offers to purchase right now. Any new buyers are going to want to see how the station is doing.

Non-subscribing stations do not get ratings data, but almost all stations in Seattle encode, whether they subscribe or not. KMCQ is about double or triple their 25-54 numbers of last summer. In Feb they were top three in some prime mid-days demos handily beating their format competitors. Their main weak spot is morning drive.
