Heil PR40 -- Good EQ/Compression Settings For On-Air / Production?

Hi, folks ... great to be here. I've been seeing the fact that the Heil PR40 has become a favorite mic in many a production & control room.

What are some of the EQ/Compression settings are you using that bring the best out of the mic's response?

Would you also tend to agree that the PR40 is more similar in response to the RE27 than the RE20?

Thanks, and Happy Holidays.

There are no EQ/compression settings on the PR40. :) I assume you're using it with some sort of mic processor. If so, you might want to share which one you are using.

As far as comparisons with the RE20 and RE27, the EV mics are Variable D. They minimize the proximity effect that accentuates the low frequencies in your voice when you talk close to the mic. Many people prefer the sound of the PR40 because of the proximity effect.

I love the PR40 and always use it instead of my RE20. YMMV

Sorry for the confusion; thanks for the clarification.

The processor in question is the original gray-front Symetrix 528.

I don't have a 528, but lots of people here do. Hopefully they will chime in with recommendations. It's a great unit that will work very well with the PR40.
