I fell in love with broadcasting when I was 8 years old-in 1956! Yep, I go way back to the days of patch fields, transcription turntables, slip cues, backtiming vinyl to hit the top of the hour, teletypes, manual logs, daybooks packed with live copy, analog everything, etc. I got my first job on-air while in high school. I worked at several stations (radio & TV) over the years but got out of broadcasting shortly after finishing college and serving in the military. (At one point I had a afternoon radio show on Armed Forces Radio & TV.) I got tired of working evenings, holidays and special events and the job insecurity was obvious. I'm glad I got out of it before I got married. I went to dental school and am now retired from practice. I have no regrets. Broadcasting was good to me and I had one hell of a good time with it but I know I made the right choice.
