Hello Columbia and Maury County!

I've been gone from Nashville and Way-Fm since the summer of '95, but I now will return to Middle Tennessee in a 'Lease To Buy' arrangement.... The 'kid' will have his station in a nice DMA community and county of 82,000..... I should be in place by the end of October and work in the new format over a few weeks in November. From the banks of the Duck River, this bird will fly.... Wish me well! (910/WMRB will continue the current Urban Gospel format on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 6 to noon, and the new format will roll out the rest of the week's programming).... "Skipper T." 8)

Best of luck to you! As a kid, it was my dream to own my own station someday and at one time I was fortunate enough to own three of them over the years. It was never easy though, but I can honestly say I enjoyed almost every moment of my years. I said almost didn't I? Overall though, it was nice to rise and shine everyday and enjoy what I did for a living, meager at times, but ultimately very gratifying and for that I'm very thankful. Judging from your other posts, you sound like a real radio guy. Here's to a prosperous endeavor! By the way, where the heck is Columbia?

40 miles south of Nashville... Just one county below the radio metro.. 4 commerical AM's and 1 commercial FM in the Columbia-Spring Hill-Mt.Pleasant area.. 82,000 in the county... Most listen to music intensive FM's in Nashville and are looking for a local hometown on-the-street station with low rates... That's me....

Congratulations to you! I bet you're happy. I know I was when I got my station. At the age of 3 my Grandpa gave me a pocket radio; my dad took me to see 1400 WJZM, in Clarksville, where my cousin, the late John Bailey was part owner. I would watch the D.J. through the glass window, and that's when I learned what a radio station was. I told my Dad at the age of 4 years old that I wanted a radio station, and of course, he told me when I grew up, we would buy one.

Well, he made that dream come true in 1994, as we worked from 1991 to 1994, trying to get WMRO-AM (the former WWGM-AM) on the air in Gallatin. We'll it's been 16 years of hard work to make it go and I've had my ups and downs with it, but I don't give up. My Dad passed away in February of 2007, and I will say I was lucky to have a father who lived up to his promise.

My personal advice to you is when you make decisions, it's o.k. to listen to others, but go with what you mind tells you, not your heart. The late Tommy King of the TAB gave me that advice in the beginning of operating WMRO.

I don't know too much about your station, what little I know is that it has catered to an urban audience in the past. Being that you have 2 other AM's and one FM to compete with, it's going to be tuff, but hang in there! Never let anybody bring down your moral. I've had WMRO for over 16 years, and at age 46, I'm still going.

Good luck to you, and I hope you do well!

Nice sounding station, although didn't detect any jocks when I was tuned in. Heard it driving to and from the Florida panhandle. Was that an old AT40 I heard on a Sunday afternoon? Also, had a 70's flavor to it when I drove past just after dark last Wednesday. Pretty good signal, too. How much juice after sunset?

500 day and 101 at night with non-directional status.. Stronger ground conductitiy to the north and near southwest.. Low gain to the east and south into the hills...Really just covers the county well.. I am looking to adding more non-music elements, since it's hard to compete with the Oldies in town.. Most don't know we're here, as I did not want to promote until: A...I can find a software player and scheduler that won't be a 'space shuttle', when I need a Ford or Chevy... I am running I-Tunes for temporary and getting some stuff from a radio buddy in Indiana to set up things. The BSI keeps quiting when I am away.. I am the only live jock and my sales guy will learn some air savy... If I go with what I want (I am spending too many hours in the station and not meeting people and my van had a boo-boo, so there goes the moving billboard..) we will be doing some great stuff for Men 35 and up....That's the hole here....Reality hits hard... One of the other AM's has Rush and Sean and NASCAR, but I have some strong options... We've only been pitching our 2 and 4 dollar rates for a week.. Now to hit the mom and pops with the low prices for the holidays....
