HELLO
Is There ANYBODY???out there??
This Site is Like Visiting a WESTERN GHOST TOWN

Hey Joe...it's a quiet as a ghost town because there isn't much to talk about in the greater Bangor market.
From the various contacts I know from each radio group, here's the scoop:

Blueberry - Sales: they are in rough shape. On Air: the morale seems pretty good. Most are happier than when it used to be owned by CC.

Cumulus - Sales: they are in very rough shape. All employees are supposed to take one furlough week between now and the end of the summer. More furloughs may come later this fall. Nationwide, they are on the brink of bankruptcy. They will likely follow Clear Channel and Citadel...and file later this fall. There is word that they may also sell most of their markets and focus on something entirely different. On Air: morale is low and those who are left are being worked to death.

Zone Corp - Sales: Are tight, but they are holding their own. On Air: the staff is very happy and well taken care of.

That's what I've heard...I'd love to see what others are hearing. I hope radio rebounds in the next couple of years and we see more local owners like Mark Osborne.

I've Always heard STEVEN KINGS stations are a Great
Place to work BUT hard to get into Because
No-body Ever leaves"
I know the People at "BLUEBERRY BROADCASTING"
and have worked with them Before in Portland Maine
Give them time THEY will do well!
I would Love to Work in the "Bangor Market"
BUT it may never Happen...Thank God
Voice-Over work from my home studio has
been Super! This week
Back to the level it was before the Economy
took a Dive!
Have a great Weekend ...I will!

That's a pretty good summary of the state of Bangor radio, Mr. Curb. And as Joe says, turnover is very rare out on Broadway.

I think most of them have been scared straight and are just thankful to have a job after Blueberry canned several formats on stations and cut staff, plus I'd rather work for a big local media group than a big national media group

Problem is, Orsborne only owns one station and these days with the economy, you only can employ 3 or 4 people. Local is not always better. Dan Pirestly (former WGUY owner) has 2 AMs in Bangor and has virtually no staff, and has 2 bird fed conserva-talkers.

The TUBLEWEEDS are Still Rolling Thru............
This BOARD IS A GHOST TOWN

Speaking of Stephen King...his group is looking for a F/T sales person. I wonder if their sales people make good $$$?
