My name is Jon. How are you?
I know it's standard to go under an alias on message boards and stuff, but that's never been my style. In fact, after reading through a few pages, it's funny to see that I recognize a few people from their screen names. Hey guys!
I've only been on this page one other time, and that's when someone informed me of it when Deek was wrongfully terminated from my show. It's interesting. I love that it's here. I've been on NWArkansas radio for twenty years next year, and it's cool to see the same passion for broadcasting and the industry that I have. I love radio.
I was forwarded this page once again by someone regarding Tony's demise. I really don't have much to say on it because the facts aren't all out there yet. Some may never be. The post on here is fascinating for it's unanimous contempt, though.
The most important thing I wanted to say is how much I respect the people who have made this their job, their career, their livelihood and how they support themselves and their families. Whether you're in New York, Fayetteville, El Dorado or someplace in between, to do what we do for a living is pretty great. Lotta people on the beach who'd love to be with us.
We get so caught up talk vs music, corporate vs local, management vs talent vs sales, etc. It just comes down to doing your job, having fun, compelling content for your audience, and being a pro. Being just as cool to your competitors as your co-workers. (I used to be really really bad at that. That took work.)
So, I just wanted to come on here and say......thanks for loving radio as much as I do. Great to see all you guys. I'm proud of our market.
Take care,
Jon
