Hello from BW Broadcast

Hello Radio Info users!

I just wanted to take the chance to introduce myself without jumping in on someone else's thread.

I work at BW Broadcast in technical support and have joined the Radio Info Discussion boards as a point of contact for our many existing users and those interested in our products. You may have talked to some of my colleagues on the boards already; I look forward to continue learning about the industry from real world users.

[EDIT*-unauthorized promotion in violation of our terms of service]

Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave, and welcome to the boards.

The next-to-last paragraph of your initial post has a little bit of "advertising spin" to it - and if you check the TOS at http://www.radio-info.com/about/terms-of-service, you'll see that in section g and section q there are specific terms about not posting "unauthorized advertising".

Not complaining, mind you - just letting you know that kind of stuff is frowned upon.

Hi SRP,

Thank you for the welcome. I have made myself aware of the Board's rules and appreciate your message. To reassure others I don't plan to fill the board with sales pitches.

Kind Regards,
Dave

Dave, were you able to license Sony's patents for adaptive L-R noise reduction, or at least incorporate an alternate method to provide similar performance without infringing on their technology? Sony's patents are described here:

http://www.google.com/patents?id=jtKRAAAAEBAJ

In the late '80s when I tried the ill-fated FMX system (using loaner equipment), it occurred to me that a single-ended stereo noise reduction system might offer a better solution with much less trouble for broadcasters. You may recall the big fuss Amar Bose made over FMX; there's some historical background here: http://tech.mit.edu/V109/N7/bose.07n.html

I expected Bose to come up with a single-ended system, but almost 20 years later Sony developed the idea I had in mind. Credit for the invention goes to Jens Wildhagen, who apparently is now with Sennheiser. It's one of the big advantages of the XDR-F1HD, I hope you also can incorporate this into your products.

Hi Play Freebird,

Thank you for your reply. The Tech Article was an interesting recall of FMX. Regarding the receiver, I can't confess to understanding every precise inner workings of all our products, especially those new to market. I have forwarded the message to my colleagues in our research and development department but they are not active on this board. Please PM me with your contact information for them.

Kind Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Welcome and nice to see (beside Scott) active representatives of BW on the board. Hopefully both can benefit from your contribution.

Regards,
Fardau
