Hello from Don Davis at Vanguard Radio

Hello Everyone! As my activities are brought up from time to time on R-D, I thought I would join and make myself available to answer any questions or clarify anything you like. You will find me to be an "open book", to the extent possible within business decorum or confidential information.

We are presently programming KREV / San Francisco from here in Albuquerque; the present format is only a placeholder, and we expect to ramp up the full programming pallet in January. Working with station owner Ed Stolz is a blast - he is a true "Radio Guy", with a real passion for radio. Ed is very committed to the EDM format in San Francisco, and as EDM is not only a business for me (Pirate 96.7 Albuquerque) but a passion for many years, to have the opportunity to program a station in the #4 market is a once-in-a-lifetime thrilling opportunity.

The new 93.7 "The Eighties Channel" is programmed fully by my friend K.M. Richards, a truly brilliant programmer. As you can hear on 93.7 / 1100, he truly "gets it". What a treat to work alongside K.M..

East Mountain Radio 102.1 / 1080 is a blast. We have been received so warmly by the people of the East Mountain and Estancia Valley area, it's incredible. I have been blessed to have some very special people come into our operation since we started in early July, with special thanks to Lacey of the former KXNM for some very valuable introductions.

So, anything anyone wants to know, please let me know! I look forward to being part of the incredible community that David has created here.

Yo! @tall_guy1 where you at? Dude's speaking your language here....

Hi Mikey! And, Hey Tall! If you are an EDM fan, you are in good company. Of course, my local Pirate 96.7 is an expression of my passion for the music and vibe (www.pirate967.com), and as Nielsen came out today, Pirate Radio Albuquerque actually is starting to tickle the ratings! Presently Pirate Albuquerque is playing continuous DJ mixes, and even the liner and commercial content plays over the mixes. Going forward, as we roll out the actual Pirate Radio San Francisco project (www.pirate927.com), Pirate Albuquerque will be a mirror of the SF programming. Looking forward to THAT!!

Thanks so much, Don Davis

Greatly enjoying KRKE (or its translator on 93.7). The forgotten 45's at the bottom of the hour bring a smile to me face. And got the Saturday night show on the radio right now. Great format and for us Gen-X kids, it is a time machine to a bunch of cool, and sometimes forgotten tunes.

Wow, Scott - thank you for the kind words! We are having a great time with KRKE, and the station is starting to gain serious traction business-wise. My selection of K.M. Richards as my format consultant is one of my radio-lifetime best decisions. K.M. is solely responsible for everything you hear on KRKE, and is a programming genius who knows his s***. KRKE is something of a beta-test for this latest version of K.M.'s The Eighties Channel, and so far, so good. "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades" (Timbuk3) Thanks again, Scott - and I'll see you on the radio!
