Hello from GA

Hi, I caught the radio bug at the age of 9 when the school bus let me off at the radio station where my mom worked as a secretary. The guys taught me how to run the board so they could take smoke breaks. I remember the first song I actually cued up and played was Bang a Gong by T-rex. Radio was like magic to me. My voice changed early and back then, we had to pass the FCC test for radio operators (3rd class), I did that and got my first paying job doing weekends at another station (daytimer AM) when I was 12. Started working at a 5k AM and 100k FM covering NE Georgia and the western Carolinas in the 9th grade and did that through high school. Worked in several smaller markets during college (Dalton, GA, Chattanooga, Panama City and finally in Athens, GA while at Univ. of Georgia). I was able to work with 4 people who are in the GA radio hall of fame which made those times a terrific work experience as well as fun. Now, I just feel old because all of the songs on the classic rock/ classic hits stations are the ones that I played back when they were hits (rock and country). Left radio and moved into film and video in the 90's, but I still like keeping up with what's going on, and this site is a great place to do that.
