Hello from NE Ga

I figure it's about time I introduced myself.

I've had a lifelong love of radio. It started as a kid with a hand-me-down radio sitting up late at night listening to the likes of Larry Glick and David Burdnoy on WBZ to Hello Henry on WBT from my parents home in Endicott NY.

I took a step toward going into "the business" while living in Albany NY when I had a chance to work Sunday afternoons on "WKJE 101.3 The Jockey" outside Saratoga NY, but was never able to parlay it into a career. I will *never* forget having to announce the Horse Track winners between songs and seeing "Flat Fleet Feet" come in as winner. I said that name half a dozen times out loud before opening the mike and promptly butchered it.

Now I'm 50mi NE of Atlanta working as a computer engineer. I get my radio "fix" via my amateur radio and AM DXing hobbies. Although I still have the occasional dream of owning a local station somewhere, the reality of the market and the business is that will probably never happen.

I do my "hamming" on a Flex 6400M and my AM-DXing on the Flex, a SDRPlay RSPdx and Crane CC2e.

From you location description I guess I am most likely 40 or so miles due west.

Welcome.

Quick question how bad do the SC signals mess with Atlanta stations in your area? 100.5 gets destroyed with usually at least once a week anywhere north of Canton GA.

Thank you, yes, I'm actually in Winder Ga. From my location I don't run get much in the way of FM from SC. Kind of surprising now that I think about it. May be time to do a few FM bandscans :)

Welcome!

As you have probably figured out, I'm down the road in Loganville. Good to see locals on here. I would imagine our DX would be pretty similar.

@secondchoice back when 100.5 was Rock 100, I used to listen to the morning show with Bailey and Southside and almost every morning in the car it was basically WSSL-Rock. The two would fight it out. At home, my HD radio would lock onto 100.5 and it wouldn't be an issue.
