Hello! I'm Greg Bakun

Hello!

My name is Greg Bakun and I do a weekly radio show focussing on the Paranormal on KTNF AM950 in the Twin Cities, Minnesota called GhostBox Radio with Greg Bakun. The show will be going nightly in July which I am really excited about. Quick question. Has anyone used or ran across any software that screens phone calls if I have no one to do so on the station end? I would really like to take calls on the show and I will be producerless once I go nightly. If there is a radio tech section on the forum, I may have missed it.

Take care, Greg

Hello!

M Quick question. Has anyone used or ran across any software that screens phone calls if I have no one to do so on the station end?
But, how would one screen a call without someone doing the screening? The software used in the past has the caller information simply entered-in by the screener.

About all you can do is act as your own screener/producer before the show and during breaks. Screen the caller, park the caller on hold, write yourself notes as to which caller is parked where.

IIRC, Art Bell took unscreened calls on his overnight show, he apparently used a small time delay and had a button to replace unairable content with a recorded Art Bell show promo.

If the caller went off the rails, Art Bell would tactfully end the call and move on to the next caller.

o_O Paranormal?

In Pahrump, NV? :ROFLMAO::LOL:

Yeah, @GregBakun I'd certainly consider a delay at a minimum. With respect to 'unattended' screener software, I mean, how would that work?

I'd be surprised if even KTNF would allow him on the air if he didn't use some sort of profanity delay. Now, if he was just streaming the show? Delay wouldn't be required.
Come to think of it; if I were doing some late night talk show on topics like Coast to Coast did/does, I'd have two versions available:
One for radio distribution with 6.8 second profanity delay, and at the same time a streaming version with no delay, and maybe even carry the screening process live. Call the streaming version: "Ghostbox-Uncensored".
The radio version would be the usual radio-barter ad model, where the streaming would be sold separately to the radio version. Chances are, the streamed version would have the ability to generate the most revenue, because you don't have to give inventory away to the radio station(s).
