Hello

Hello, my name is Steven Howard. I have been reading the Radio-Info boards for a long time now and today I just decided to jump in and join the discussion! You all seem like nice folks and I would like to join you folks in the discussion. First I'll tell you a little about myself.

I was born right smack in the middle of the 20th century! January 1, 1950! Yes, I'm old.

I was born and raised in Miami. I graduated from Miami Beach Senior High School in 1967.

I graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in accounting in 1971.

In 1972, I moved to Armonk, New York to take a job at IBM. I've been working with the company ever since.

After living in Armonk for 28 years, in 2000, I moved back to Miami to work at IBM's Miami location.

I've had a love for radio since I was a kid.

As a self-nominated founding member of the Radio-Info Miami-Ft. Lauderdale board's 'Welcoming Committee' I would like to welcome you to our fine board and cast of characters consisting of real radio fans (like myself) and actual current and former radio employees. Please feel free to jump in to any ongoing discussion (or create a new one yourself). It's always great to see the new posters 'mix-in' with the longtime posters.

I've had a love for radio since I was a kid.

So what are some of your favourite radio stations here in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area ?

THE MAJOR

The Major and 954: Thank you for the warm welcome.

As a kid growing up, I often listened to WFUN and WQAM most often. Certainly good times. I remember hanging out with my friends at the beach and we'd be blasting one of those stations.

Now days, I usually listen to Majic 102.7.

As a non-founding member, I too would like to say "Greetings and Salutations". Welcome to this quaint lil spot on the boards. I've been to a few of the other boards around the cyber universe, but I enjoy the banter with those right here. It's a good mix of people...Radio people, Former Radio people & Fans of the business.

There is really no right or wrong here-everyone has their opinion. Tho what i've noticed is, is that alot of the "non-radio" people that post do their homework, as well as ask questions. It makes reading and posting here worth it.

Enjoy your stay-

I've also noticed that we have an unusually high percentage of 'out-of-towners' who post in our little neighbourhood here - particularly from New Jersey, New York, and New England. I guess some of them are originally from South Florida, some of them regularly vacation here, some of them are fascinated by our sub-tropical paradise of radio stations, and some of them merely like us and our civil postings on here. I think that it's really cool that we have a myriad of perspectives on here from elsewhere in the country. Welcome aboard Northerners ! Enjoy your stay !

On behalf of the 'non-radio' types on here I thank thee for your noteworthy observations !

To paraphrase something (Wally World?), it's the happiest little board on R-I.

I hope it stays that way.

Welcome Steve!

For the record I'm one of the out of town guys. I'm in Charlotte,NC but lived in Hollywood from '65-'81. Radio is all I ever wanted to do but by 1994 I got disenchanted with the biz and got into computers. After being out of radio for 11 years and I had been out of work for awhile, I started doing radio part-time again. I have to say that it's not as much fun as it used to be but it's still fun.

To get paid for playing records on the radio has always seemed like steeling money to me. Now with everything in the computer and doing just a few short breaks it's even more like steeling money! Today I had one of those moments where I thought "Wow they actually pay me for this?"

I look forward to hearing what you have to say Steve. What are some of the things you love about radio?

Mike

Welcome to the board Steve.

I happen to be one of those 'out of towners'. I'm from New Jersey. I've been down here plenty of times, enough to form an opinion of radio down here.

This is my favorite board though, due to the civil attitudes and fun discussions.

Again, welcome to the club Steve! By the way, my grandfather used to work for IBM. He moved down to South Florida in 1985. He worked with IBM in New York City before he came down here. Then he came back to snow land last year!

Howdy Steve . I'm from Nebraska..(Yes..there is radio in 'fly-over' country..lol!!) Been to Florida several times for vacation. This is decent board. I'm one of those APD types in Lincoln NE @ KRKR . In an area full of Husker fans... I like Norte Dame ..Welcome again ...
