Hi,

I am trying to experiment with low power, Part 15 AM radio, and I stumbled across this site while searching for information.

I've been in and around the SF Bay Area my whole life, so I'm quite familiar with KGO 810 and all the others, and I was fortunate enough to have been able to hear many of the big ones (KGO, KFRC, KABL) in their original formats before they went off the air (KABL and KFRC) or got reprogrammed (2011 for KGO). Despite the fact that I wasn't born when those stations were in their prime in the 60s, 70s and 80s, I still regard them as among my all time favorite radio stations, and was very disappointed when they went off the air.

So, anyway, that's that for my introduction!

Thank you! I'm hoping to eventually figure out how to program a mostly automated oldies/variety type format for a part 15 low power AM station, mostly for my own enjoyment, but also just to learn.

I've always been fascinated by radio, and actually had the opportunity to volunteer at an LPFM station in Ukiah, CA for a couple years back in 2008-2010 (the politics were, um, bad, and I'm sure any members here who had been in Ukiah during that time will know which station I'm referring to (hint: it was the most mediocre sounding one, but with excellent oldies music on Monday mornings from 9 to noon ;) ). I left that station under pretty lousy circumstances, so at the time left me feeling pretty bitter about doing anything even remotely radio related, but after 12 or so years, the bitterness has subsided and I've finally gathered up the nerve to try again, but this time, on my own terms.
