Last night I was hearing classical music on 590 peaking SSE. I've heard this station before but only on rare occasions. Very weak!

Also, opera on 1060! That one was peaking SSW. Also very weak; came and went for several hours until about an hour before local sunrise.

Any ideas? I am in the Chicago area.

1060 should be Radio Educación from Mexico, the format fits and it's fairly common here when I null KYW at night.

590: I have no idea!

The only classical station on 590 that I can think of is from Cuba; if you hear someone speaking Spanish, that's it. I hear it here in VA at night with a fairly weak signal that is a bit choppy.

Thanks gents! Those suggestions agree with the directions the stations appeared to be coming from.

I also heard instrumental music on 530, which I've heard before, but this time there was no interference from the station in Ft. Erie.

590 is Cuba. It's easily heard in Florida and other Southeast states late at night.

Instrumentals on 530 are the one-and-only Radio Enciclopedia in Cuba; I read that 530 is in Havana; it used to be on 1260 until a few years ago.

Ft. Erie is long gone to FM. There is CIAO out of Brampton Ontario which is operating at 530 after Ft. Erie gave up the frequency.
