Help on question!!

Hey Guys and Gals:

A couple of questions for you all.

1. Can anyone tell me in what year WQAM went from top 40 to country.

2. Does anybody know what year WKQS went from beautiful music to country.

3. And for the Palm Beach People: Does anybody know when the gater became a full flege classic rock station. I am thinking 1995??

Thanks for your help on this

I can tell you approximately.

I believe Mindy was on country WQAM during that era. This would have been
before Majic and after WBSS. So I'd guess around '83.

Check out August Radio News, just uploaded minutes ago:

WQAM went country in February, 1980. I don't remember the exact day, but I was listening on my way home from running an errand, and was listening to them ,and they were playing a pretty good mix of pop tunes and oldies. They had been playing very few commercials, and were kind of quiet at the mike. I went in and turned on the stereo about twenty minutes later and heard "Pop a top" by Jim Ed Brown. I thought "Wow, they are really mixing it up a bit....or did they switch to country? Sounded like the old WWOK. I stayed with it until I moved away later that summer. I remember a DJ who billed himself as "The Afternoon Bozo". He was really fun to listen to. As for WKQS, I believe it went on in early "81. I remember hearing it on a visit to So. Fla. I believe I-95 started around then too.
I remember hearing Mindy one night on WQAM (between WVCG and WBSS) around 1983.
