HELP RQQ FIND A NEW MORNING SHOW

Not affiliated with Cumulus in any way, but let's help RQQ find a new morning show. There's some consensus building that they're beginning to sound fairly good musically... but Bob & Tom in the mornings is hurting the station. Surely that show's still around only because it's under contract... or maybe RQQ just doesn't have a better idea.

So let's help. Is there anything else out there that's syndicated that would be a better fit? What about local? Coyote's too obvious. How about "Mac in the Morning"? Is Bohan available? Could Donegan be persuaded to tear himself away from the Titans PA long enough? An old oldies guy from the old SM95?

Mike has a full time job...probably not interested in the uncertainties of today's radio

Bohan would be a good fit along with someone else i think as a team...was Mike not a rocker in his younger Nashville radio days and known as the "walrus"..Seems I remember him going by that at Kda maybe?? A bit fuzzy on the dates...The music is far better than any other station covering this genre'..but as all know..without a lead in show..the crowds not gonna show...and the demo for this music are not B&T types....but I digress..I fear that they will flip if the ppm's don't show any juice in the ratings...finally a play list that is deeper than "My Girl' AND Pretty Woman"...Don't know Mac..but doing a really good job over there...hope the suits don't 'Fubar' it.....

Not sure how Bob & Tom are hurting the station. They outperform the other dayparts.

Define "outperform" -- :D

Sadly, RQQ just doesn't get any breaks. Mac needs to come up with some crazy free advertising to get the word out. Cause the audience is out there. Agreed, music in the morning and 7P-12M needs to be live and local and a little more upbeat than the dayparts. Vandy issues --- well, that's just the way it is...

Interesting that the music is so popular among so many on here. Hmmm! Let's see --- 2011...a
prediction --- the advertising executives will "suddenly" discover the 55+ demo as a sound audience to sell products to and these stations called "Easy" and "0ldies" re-invent the way radio sounds.

And RQQ gets a 4.0 25-54, and while not great, better than its been in a long time...and the CUME smiled and radio starts to "get" radio again at least in a few small ways.

there was a time when i thought bob and tom were funny.well bob and chick..but i guess i've matured from 12 years old to at least 18..and just find the show boring ..and immature..im sure there's still an audience for it across the fruited plain...........but i don't think nashville is a mecca for their type of humor any more..although my 30 year old son thinks they are gods...lol a good fast paced morning show done locally with local talent would rock nashville..especially now that gerry has left a void..but until B & T'S contrat is up..not gonna happen..anyone know how much they have to pay for bob and tom?? has to be more than hiring local talent would be i would think..

Do you think the highter ups would be interested in bringing Rick and Bubba back to Nashville?

They have to pay?? Bob and Tom don't pay them??

While Rick & Bubba would be a better fit, I don't see anyone bringing them back to Nashville anytime soon. Lot of people still miss them though...

True, but it's not a huge difference. From the 12+ numbers I'm looking at, Bob & Tom are at 18th place vs. the other day-parts at like 19th place. Morning radio has the potential to be the driving force behind a station, but WRQQ doesn't look to be getting it out of Bob & Tom.

I was just thinking about this today. I give a vote to Bohan! Bohan would be a great fit. Random thought; this would be hard, but how hard would it to have "Rick, Beth, and Tim" on WSM FM and RQQ? Each with their own music. Who's up for that challenge? Cross station promotion and more recognition for the show. Anyways, as for selling the 55+ demo; I'm 23! Guess what, I listen to RQQ and "Oldies." As do many of my friends under 30.

That's why you can't just look at raw numbers. A better fitting show to the format would exponentially increase all dayparts.

Ya'll not thinking like the corporate suites...
Get the cheapest talent to occupy a time period.
No promotion and sell whatever numbers you have.

one thing i noticed after listening for a couple of days is this..the salesman who has the Genesis and Shane jewelry accounts must be making a killing.every break both are thrown at you wide open...do that many people buy jewelry ?? every break has both stores hawking there diamonds etc...

It's just that there's a huge markup on jewelry... but the ladies must have it, so the men must buy it. Ever been in Genesis? It's like going in a bank vault, and there ain't nothin' cheap in there. Those $100 gift cards they give away on the Zone will only buy you a discount. No wonder they have the $$$ to buy ads. A lot of the Shane ads are corporate buys, and many sales teams no longer see commission on those.

sooo the rest of the story ehhh paul ?? lol..glad my wife could care less about trinkets, baubles and beads....and shiny bits of fluff..she gets excited about new string for the weedeater...thanks for the update..

IMPOSSIBLE to do. the songs woul all have to be the same lengths, and the mic processing would never match the formats. you produce it to sound great on SM, and it sounds wimpy on RQQ, and vice versa. i think that would be a cluster**** to the nth degree.

they would have to pretape different breaks and topics for each show, and they is no way to do 2 complete different shows at the same time. mentally, it would be exhausting.

**If you were making a joke, I apologize. If Not, I laugh ;D
