Help! unknown 1680 AM in Houston.

I am receiving a station that I am unfamiliar with and can't figure out where it is coming from. Station is called "Old School 1680, Music for your heart and soul." and playing a good mix of Motown hits. Only station at 1680 that I can find near us is KRJO from Monroe, La. Per radio-locator this is supposed to be a gospel station, but I haven't heard an ID for the station to confirm this is KRJO. Can you help?

You are hearing KRJO. They seem to program "Old Skool" until Sunday mornings, then go to gospel. They have a good signal over here into Orange County 24/7, not unlike KVNS. Their web site: www.rejoice1680.com with streaming audio can confirm your reception.

I remember hearing this station probably two years ago, I think around this time of year, while DXing in League City around 4 one afternoon. It was under some splatter from the NASA station on 1690, but references to Louisiana were clearly heard.

I heard 1680 KRJO just last evening around 5PM, good strong signal in San Antonio, TX, for at least 30 minutes, then faded away into the soup.

I really appreciate the link, WCJ, as this helped me confirm KRJO last night when it reappeared around 10pm. This is a new logging for me, which is why I really wanted to hear the legal ID for the station. Thanks to everyone for the help with my new entry. Not a bad catch, considering it is only running 1000 watts at night and had to overtake our local airport and traffic information station on the same frequency.

Not bad at all considering those factors. Up here in East Texas (a little west of Tyler) I get a good signal from KRJO during critical hours and diminished but steady reception the remainder of daytime hours. At night the signal strength is variable but for the most part it's in the clear.
