The song was played on WABC in November, 1965 by Dan Ingram as the lights flickered. He then played an instrumental to go into a newsbreak and then during the first few minutes of the news the power completely went off and the station died.
I had a friend in NJ who was not affected and turned on the radio to 77 and got WJW-Detroit (760-AM). He told me that he knew something was up.

> Actually, the name of the song is "Everyone's Gone To The
> Moon". It was a Jonathan King hit, sort of, in about 1965.
> Chad & Jeremy also sang it and I believe they wrote it, too.
> The Jonathan King version, as I recall, got more airplay and
> charted a bit higher.
>
> It's still a nice and mellow piece of music to this day.
