Help with KRBE History

Then one day in 1972 or 73, KRBE went live and played the same song over and over again for a solid 24 hours. The jocks played as if nothing was different. And so the era of KRBE being a powerhouse started.

And that song was "Rock And Roll, Part 2," by Gary Glitter.

I worked with a guy who made an endless loop cart of 'Rock and Roll, Pt. 2' once... no beginning, no end. It took some people longer to get it than others...

I remember back in 1971 I visited KRBE. It was automated Hit Parade format that really sounded stale. Across the hall was KBNO and Johnny Goyen was on the air. Johnny is probably the kindest most professional person I ever met in the business.

And now we've come full circle with voice tracking, todays version of Hit Parade. I'd rather have some of Bill Drake's old automation than voice tracking. ;D

My father was a jock at KRBE in 1964 and 1965...classical format. He doesn't know how to use a computer, but I will jot down some of his memories down, and post them. His name is O.J. Cunningham, but I don't know if he went by that name on-air or not. From what he was telling me a while back, the studios were in a hotel near downtown.
