Oh that's simple. I do not have the accurate dates on some of the broadcasts over the years (unless someone among us can tell us otherwise), but I do remember when it was first aired. The classic Rankin/Bass special made its debut on NBC on Dec. 6, 1964. Eight years later the series is turned over to CBS for the long run. CBS's debut of the show was aired Dec. 8, 1972 and has been a staple of the network ever since.
