Henry Hinton is mad at me?

I have been informed by a colleague who lives in Raleigh that Mr. Hinton of WNCT 1070 is seriously ticked off at me for something I said on this board. Don't get me wrong, I'm honored to be on his enemies list, and I'm impressed that word made it all the way to the Triangle, but I would like to know what I'm alleged to have said.

You didn't say "GODD**N" did you? Oh, that's right that was John Donald Imus.

In case you missed it, HH called up Viacom/CBS/INFINITY/WWOne(now my head hurts) to complain about Imus' language one day, and who do you suppose the I-MAN RIPPED on the air the next day???

You know, if what I think happened is true, I'm sorry. Looking at the previous threads, you actually posted that WNCT would be a talk giant if they get the 50kw upgrade. But before that, you started a thread about bad radio mistakes, and I contributed a post that mentioned a few of WNCT's problems, both with sound quality and program quality. I think however this info got back to him, it became confused.

At any rate, Henry, or sigil of Henry, you have way too much money to worry about what a bunch of radio geeks say about your station.

No need for an apology. The incident I described happened on the FM side years before HH had anything to do with the AM side.

P.S. What's a "sigil"?

Henry's a legend in Greenville, but (to me) he has made a few mistakes,
Changing WRQR's call letters and that horrible simulcast on 103.3 are the biggest. BUT... He has taken many chances that have panned out well. I hope that WNCT's 50kw upgrade goes as planned.

No matter what anyone here thinks about HH, he's got his finger on the pulse of the Emerald City (unlike the folks at Archway).
______________

I agree Todd, and I have really enjoyed some of the things Henry has done. I just don't care for anything WNCT-AM has done. The signal is weak, the sound quality is poor. But I fully respect and support many of the things Henry has said on his show about the differences between ENC and RDU. His presentation since joining WNCT is just so political and lacking. It's almost like he's trying for an audition on WPTF.

I always figured the WRQR change was a cash for calls. I don't know about the 103.3 simulcast, what was that?

> P.S. What's a "sigil"?

Strictly explained, a sigil is the son of a ruling leader. But it's come to mean a communicator or member of a ruling council. For those of us nearer the welfare bracket, we call them "son", "daughter" or "responsible bail money".

HH has been more political oriented ever since he and Troy parted ways and his 98.3 show became truly his.

As for the 103.3 simulcast... back in the day Classy 98.3 was on 103.3 too. It didn't last long, and was pretty stupid when you consider how close the tower sites are.
______________

I know this is old but I just read it..Believe me if Henry was mad at you, you would know it, but I'm sure he and he's has never paid a "Bit of attention" to anything you have said! Don't consider yourself that important...APE!

Keith (GT Tyson) used to work for HH I believe. He was in radio around here for many years at various stations.

GT passed away a few months ago and is missed by many. Kind of nice to see one of his old threads brought back up again.

GT passed away in April.I miss him.He was a true original. He was the most uncorporate, passionate person about radio. He was just a very creative, quick witted guy. I'll never forget him.

I didn't know him and probably would not have posted that if I knew he was dead...But I knew how Henry was..I've been around the block 3 times...Thanks APE!
