Henson's Friday melt-down

I bumped into someone on Coatesville City Council this weekend, and I was told Henson went ballistic over this website on his Friday show. He, apparently, was so fumed he was stammering to get words out.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but if you make a living in the public spotlight - especially in the entertainment industry - should you not assume that they'll always be people critical of your performance? Isn't that just part of the deal?

I mean, listen to WIP at any hour of any day, and you'll hear people critical of the players, the coaches, the owners... imagine if Andy Reid went ballastic because Eddy from Kennsington suggested he run a different pass defense?

Robert Henson: the kid just can't take the pressure.

I need to jump in here for my brother. (You'll understand why in a few moments.) Robert's discussed this board on his show Friday because, acording to the administrator, he's been banned from posting on it. He felt that that seemed like a ridiculous thing to have happen. So do I.

Joe Thomas

I agree with that. I don't think Henson did/said anything that is worthy of his being banned. But I guess that is the site administrator's call.

But from what I was told, most of his rants were "why do people hate me?", and not "why was I banned?".

All that said... this is hearsay. I'm trusting what another person says to have heard. Did anyone hear this portion of the Friday show? Is there a way to get this on tape?

The hilarious part of this discussion, is that this board even matters to someone in the broadcast industry.
It's a stinkin' discussion board for cryin' out loud. And judging from a majority of the statements made in these postings, come from people who have little broadcast experience (or maybe just weren't paying attention) during their careers. Antagonistic posters should be taken with a grain of salt. I don't know the content of the "show Rant" but the mere mention of this board on ANY show seems unprofessional and ridiculous. :-[

My point exactly. To the extent Henson spent part of his show bashing this board and its posters is unprofessional. I would think a professional broadcaster sets a higher standard. Then again, Henson isn't a ___________ ____________.

Sure, give me a call and let me know when you can pick it up. It will be un-edited. Then you won't need the hearsay and can write the facts. It would be a first for you.

Obviously, the rules of grammar aren't the most important things in your life. And you make fun of Patsy Ray? Sheesh, it's only a message board. You can't let it get to you this way.

I thought you were banned from posting to this site? Welcome back!

Frankly, if Henson actually used 30 seconds of airtime discussing the goings on on a radio board, he should be shown the door. Management at that station should have at least some minimum standards ( I pause for the laughter...done....I carry on..) Doing real show prep and talking about what is happening in West Chester and Coatesville is the only way to try to grow any audience. If not, just put the satellite on.

"I am the most important person in gatsby's live. His post prove it. Makes me warm inside."

He often talks this way on the air too.

Is there a superior left at WCOJ who can get him to stop playing the 10 minutes of crappy, unorthodox music out of every news & commercial break? That "music" sounds as if it were selected by some Coatesville crackhead, not someone attemting the give the illusion of presenting a show with intellegent discussion of local issues.

I like Robert. I like what he tries to do on the show. He is very different. Wow, I just had a thought... you know how we radio lifers always say how all radio stations sound alike.... well, get this... he doesn't sound like anybody I ever worked with. Not St. Moran, not St. Clayton, not St. Tyler, not St. Niagra, not St. Garland. I loved each of those guys... and I have a lot of affection for Robert. He works at his show.

Now, that said... do all his bits work... nope. Neither did mine. He misses. Today I just listened to a wpen air check of mine, and I missed a lot too.

So if you don't like Robert. Hit the button. Most of us in the business just hit the button. Don't pile crap on him because you don't like him. We don't do that... at least the people I've worked with.

And for everyone else... if you are going to say mean spirited things about someone ... why not use your name?

And that Dr. Karp is a wonderful human being... if you are in need of joint rehab, he wrote the book! Really, it said so on page one...

Thanks,

Joe Harnett, I am not worthy.

seriously though, isn't radio fun?

and to think I owe it all to Joe Thomas, the radio gig.... not the doctor stuff.

Dr. Karp

"Most of us in the business just hit the button. Don't pile crap on him because you don't like him."

But listening in is very much like passing a gruesome auto wreck. You know that it is going to be a horrible and terrible thing, but you just have to look. (Or in this case listen.)

"So if you don't like Robert. Hit the button. Most of us in the business just hit the button."

So, you are conceeding that is what others currently in the business also do when he comes on the air. That is very forthright of you.

My radio guy tells me Henson got a good talking-to about visiting this message board. I guess Henson won't be posting here, or talking about this site on his show, anytime soon.

The puppy has been house-trained. Arf arf.

Just to clarify because once again ......not so correct. There was no talking too. I don't know where you get your info from but....oh nevermind. By the way, you haven't picked up your tape yet. ;D And the puppy still pees where he likes!

Come on Mr Henson...let it go!
Besides, you're taking up value promotional space for The Radio Racket Rodeo!

I admit it, I made it up, I know there wasn't a "talking to". I'm just playing with ya', Henson! I really missed seeing your wacky posts.

That is so very clever. But, I am sorry 950am... you seem to take what I said and twist it to fit your argument. Before you make your next mistake, please write me privatly. I am so easy to find... and my name is right there for you to see.

When you do not like what the air guy is doing... hit the button. Any air guy... any button.
