It's today at 2 pm

http://business.bostonherald.com/businessNews/view.bg?articleid=115531

"The chief justice of U.S. District Court will decide this afternoon whether the 11 years and 3 months double-crossing industrialist Bradford Bleidt offered to serve after pleading guilty to scamming his mother, friends and investors out of more than $27 million is punishment enough."<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Brad Bleidt Sentenced

FYI: Former WBIX-1060 owner Brad Bleidt was sentenced today (December 5th) to eleven years in prison. He could have gotten fourteen years behind bars.

According to a couple of TV news reports, the judge at the sentencing hearing ordered that a transcript of testimony fromn Bleidt's victims must be posted in his jail cell.

These TV news reports also suggested that Bleidt began scamming people twenty years ago.

I'm not sure how long he'd have to stay behind bars before being eligible for parole; I would think he'd be in jail for at least eight years before that chance would come.

"In exchange for his guilty plea to all the counts he was charged with, prosecutors agreed to a sentence below the range of 14 to 17 years set in federal sentencing guidelines.
"Judge William Young also ordered Bleidt to pay $31.7 million in restitution, and ordered a transcript of victims’ remarks be kept in Bleidt’s prison cell while he serves his sentence, and later, in his home during three years of supervised release."

Re: Link to "Globe" article

Bradford C. Bleidt, a former investment manager who admitted stealing about $30 million from investors, was sentenced Monday to just over 11 years in prison after his victims blasted him for betraying their trust and ravaging their lives.

Bleidt, 51, admitted stealing from the accounts of new clients. Instead of putting the funds into investments, he used the cash for personal and business purposes, including $15 million to operate WBIX-AM, a Boston radio station.

Another sad chapter in broadcasting as well as ruining the lives of his financial investors including his mother. If Alex Langer hadn't relied on Bleidt as his "angel" perhaps his WMEX might have taken off. Sad all around even for Brad and Bonnie. Can't take any joy in his downfall which was self inflicted. He could have suceeded on his own intellect without the stealing the the moneys of those who trusted him Where is Bonnie in the picture now?
