Herald blog: Bob Hedlund may go to WATD

Jessica Heslam's blog on the Herald says Bob Hedlund, who just did a couple 'RKO fill-ins, might wind up
doing a Sunday night talk show on WATD. "Hedlund...used to host “The Rock Vault” rock show on the Marshfield station under the psedonym Cliff Stone"

Prov. board quotes DePetro's site, saying he'll be filling in for John Gambling (late morning I believe) next week on WABeatleC, new york...

Hence answering that ages old question "What does a forner auto junk dealer know about radio, anyway?" :p

That speaks volumes about the state of RKO these days if a local hack (in the political sense) would rather do a vanity show on a hobby station than do fill-in work at RKO.

>>>would rather do a vanity show on a hobby station than do fill-in work at RKO.

hey it pays better!!!

And, at least Ed Perry is an honorable man which is more than you can say for the dregs of humanity at WRKO.

who said he was even offered more fill-in gigs?

ahhh DUH

Where do you think the Herald found about about his WATD gig? Wanna bet it was from here..directly or indirectly?

Wouldn't be the first or last time the Herald or Globe stole off this board without attributing the source.

BTW it is going to be from 3 to 4 on Sunday afternoons, the format has not been disclosed yet.

Neggy's right; 8 people have posted, 138 people have read it. Remeber the old RadioDigest that the
Boston Radio Watch fellow used to write for? When he left and some woman took over she printed my
joke "Howie Carr to go to WBCN/Afternoons" or something as if it were fact! People do find us entertaining.

Two months later, but it's finally happening.............Senator Bob Hedlund will be airing "Monday Night Talk" this Monday from 6:15-8:00, directly following the 6:00 news, on 95.9-FM WATD............from what his producer has told me, sounds like it's gonna be an interesting show to tune into...............for those who can't get WATD on their radio dials, listen to the show livestreaming at www.959watd.com/streaming.asp

Gee, there's an unbiased opinion. The producer thinks the show is going to be interesting.

How close to election time will WATD have to start giving equal time to anyone that runs again Bob? Declare now and get your own show on W :D ATD!

OK so we are focusing on section 315 then.

since Section 315 exempted news programs, interviews and documentaries, all WATD needs to do, to keep with the intent of the law is have a member of the news department co-host,produce, or claim it is a production of WATD News, or have the Senator interviewed,or interview people as part of the program. This is assuming that it is not a leased time situation.

I don't think Steve Lynch is in a position to object if it is going to cost a ton of money to get a decision in his favor

Ok, what happens if it is paid time? i would think that WATD would only have to offer availability at same rate . If a time slot is available? ???

I hear there is some unsold inventory in the 2 AM to 5AM daypart

Actually, the producer is from the news department, but...............

....it is a brokered program, so there will be no claim made by the news department as having part in the programming.
