Who knows. As for Air America/prog talk it's tough to say what station might pick it up here. I don't know what the chances are the "petition to bring prog talk back" will have when it gets sent to CC; so far the only response they're getting is "well, maybe we can put it on 1430 when the 1200 increase takes effect".
That's six months away. What other stations/companies might consider running it?
As I said, there was the poss. WRKO or WTKK could pick up a show, even tape delayed. But think about other stations on the dial--whom might take a chance?
--Salem's WEZE 590, WROL 950, WTTT 1150: Will air AAR the day Michael Moore goes vegetarian
--Entercom WRKO, WEEI, WMKK, WAAF/WKAF: Of these the closest they may get is 'RKO adding a prog.
talk show. If WEEI were to move to 93.7 (highly unlikely) and open up 850 for prog talk...again,
prob not
--CBS WBZ (prob. not giving up local shows), music stations (would WBCN add a show or two? has been
suggested) prob. not going for it (WZLX, WBCN, etc.)
--Greater Media: Recent change in WTKK lineup. No room for prog talk shows (though Herald article
said E&B are left-leaning). Their other FMs? Air America 92.9? Wouldn't dump country, classic hits,
or AC...
--Clear Channel: only what I mentioned above; return it to WXKS eventually?
--Smaller stations: buying time on several small stations in market? Having a well-heeled pal buy a station?
Pass the collection plate...
--As I've suggested before, that signal from WJIB would easily reach Harvard Square...though Bob Bittner
has said before on Let's Talk About Radio (this was awhile ago) that he didn't think he'd put AAR on but if his mind could be changed...?
