Herald: Howie Carr beefs with WRKO

>>WRKO radio host Howie Carr has lodged a trio of complaints against the station with the state Attorney General’s office, seeking unpaid bonuses and a pay raise in the three years since his bosses thwarted his attempt to defect to rival WTKK. The Herald received the complaints from the Attorney General’s office under a Freedom of Information Act request. Carr declined comment this week.

Ah, the attorney general. Howie's a big fan of her, isn't he? :)

"Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!"

It's doubtful AG Martha Coakley cares very much about Carr's comments about her or his support of Scott Brown, since Coakley seems to pretty much ignore talk radio, much to her own detriment. So here's hoping she'll look at his complaint objectively, and then come down on Entercrumb like a ton of bricks!

I enjoy Howie's show, although I don't agree with him much of the time. For me, his humor is a big part of his appeal, and a big part of his humor is based on seeing his employers as idiots (something most of us do, regardless of what field we work in). It reminds me of the irreverant humor of Miami's Neil Rogers, Howie's political polar opposite, a guy who was phenomenally successful for decades while poking fun daily at a succession of PDs, GMs and corporate owners.

Entercom's thin company skin works against them. They won't fire Howie, because they have nothing left on WRKO, but they won't let him be himself, either.

Here's hoping Greater Media has thicker skin.

Or Clear Channel.

Ent. may be concerned his putdowns of them may look bad to advertisers...?

btw Howie and guest Jon Lovitz got along well yesterday. The Michael's Deli food convinced Jon to stay longer.
Jon mentioned how he shoved Andy Dick against the wall after Dick said he'd be the next SNL alum to die, after Jon's good friend Phil Hartman was shot to death by his cocaine-fueled wife (Bryce H was introed to coke by Dick too?); Dick wouldn't apologize etc

Would have loved the food to taste bad, so that Lovitz could break into his Jay Sherman voice. ;D

It's a lot cheaper for HC to use Marsha Marsh Marsha's office to do his legal work for him than to pay an attorney to go after them.

I wonder what it would take for Entercom to be found in breach of contract?

I wonder if it is a game of brinkmanship?

You're right; it is cheaper. But then again, this is Howie we're talking about, who takes enormous pride in being a cheapskate.

Besides, you don't want some ambulance chaser handling a case of indentured servitude.* 8)

*or owning a radio station, trust me, but that's another story.

Just wanted to congratulate Raccoon for making the top half of today's T-R-I with this story. ;)
