Herald: "lost" WRKO trying to find itself

http://business.bostonherald.com/businessNews/view.bg?articleid=106792

These days stories about local radio seem to be turning up on the business pages of the Herald, not TV/radio.
WRKO goes for the WEEI model (live and local), with the news/weather/traffic features of WBZ; their weak spot is apparently
5 am-noon while Rush and Howie's ratings have been "great". So we have
Boston This Morning. Will there be changes 9-noon? Not mentioned in article.

Clea Simon in Globe, by the way, mentions that WRKO will soon be premiering a new show called Boston This Morning. Uh, the one that started 3 days ago. Actually I'll bet the story was written a few days back but only appeared now. Way to go,
N.Y. Times Jr.; say, how well do you think the Sox will do in their
upcoming series with Chicago? :)

I have been listening to this "new" format for four days now and each day it gets more painful, I hope RKO finds itself and fast, I can't take much more of this Boston this morning crap, imo, it's a total waste of time and total waste of talent, SAM is better when he's debating i.e. interacting with listeners as opposed to just reading the news for three and half hours.

This is not the first time Clea has had "calendar" issues. In a column printed on a Saturday, she wrote that "today" would be the last Classical at Copley sponsored by WCRB. The series ended the previous Thursday. Anyone who went to Copley Square that day would have witnessed typical Saturday activities, but no music!

AMEN ! I just reset my clock radio to wake up to Imus In The Morning instead of Boston In The Mourning. It is too painful to listen to this show with no direction. I feel sorry for Scott Allen Miller who is doing the best he can with a dog format. Any chance Entercom might SELL WRKO to someone who knows how to program a talk radio station?

I am repeating myself but I think the only salvation for RKO in the morning is too simulcast with FOX 25 and VB and their team for at least part of the morning along with Scott Allen Miller and have him move in to the Park Street/Beacon Street studio across from the State House. It would certainly benefit both 25 and WRKO with the cross promotions and cross over audiences as people leave their houses and turn to WRKO to continue "listening" to Fox25 AND WRKO. Once RKO has captured that audience, perhaps a totally NEW audience they have the opportunity to keep them.

Hey, but what do I know. I am sitting here at the computer and these wizbang Harvard B School types are getting the big bucks. Then again, I hope they are saving those bucks because they will soon need them when they are on the unemployment line.

Traffic on the 1s

But you get Traffic On The 1s.

Anyone know if Whittemore brought BZ "traffic on the 3s"?

Is this the best he can do?

Put Jay Diamond on 9-noon, please. Better still, how
about Diamond & Scotto?

Saw the story, Whittemore's out of his mind, ratings will plunge.

Why interview Tom Taylor of Insane Radio? What does he know?

LOL! Day five and my ears are now bleeding! I may have to go to WZLX and then catch Howie later on the way home! What a waste of SAM talent. He's so much better when sparing with listeners, geez, he may as well get a job at the library doing story hour!
